Someone who actually knows how to mix an 8 string. I never thought I would hear it. Awesome track!

Agreed. Usually the low end is all flubby tubby blown out with no tightness or crispness. He has it dialed in better than any of these chugster low end djent players. A true virtuoso of the extended range guitarists

So beautiful to see guitarists who can really use the 8 string guitar in a musical way and not just for MORE BOOOM AND VROOOM!

for boom and vroom you just need a longer scale length, not more strings. Solar guitars has a relatively affordable 29" scale 6 string. 8 string comes in handy when you love the boom and vroom but you wanna play leads also

Observation about the "true temperament" fret system.... :36 and every root note on that string.... it's flat. That's because that fret area is moved back too far toward the nut to compensate for major thirds on the G and B strings (as is clearly evident at :36 and other root notes). So, you do gain more consonance and smooth blends with your bar chords using distortion due to this but your actual notes are flat of standard or sharp also in cases where the fret is closer than normal to the bridge or vice versa. The old addage you can't get something for nothing is pretty much true. But for chords and people who don't mind the actual notes being out of tune to other notes and players, this probably is great for them. I live with standard tuning so my 3rds are always off everywhere. Just how equal tempered is. But there's some ways around that, too, in many cases. Matt could have just bent the root note up about 12 cents and it'd be in tune. But how to remember which frets are squiggled how far? nope. too difficult to compensate the compensated frets. :)

Wooosh, I've seen videos from you explaining Konnakol, and videos of you playing guitar (and one day in another life seeing you live in cologne with freak kitchen, knowing since then, that you're not only a freak guitar player, but a person, I'd love to have a beer and a conversation with). But this video, playing 10 time signatures and counting up and down for us normal people...😎 Thank you Mattias for being so human, humble, kind, funny and obviously very intelligent. Who else will understand the Konnakol concept being not from India? Keep on sharing, it makes my life more colorful 🎸👍🤗

What a trip to have at been away since he got an 8 string to now. Maybe tomorrow is freak guitar day all day to catch up on the last few years. I've barely touched my guitars, probably worked harder and more in 50 years in the last few years. I cannot or will not be "locked down" so i've been beyond busy, but I've played many "imaginary notes.". Time away is fine. It can be refreshing if you've grown as a human being and so you grow in your art. Perhaps not so much your technique, but even then perhaps so.
