The song " The God Who Stays" by Matthew West literally saved my life. I heard that song and it brought me back to God. I felt like I didn't deserve his love after my overdose... I am forgiven. I know God stays and I am humbled and held by his love and grace!

Have you watched the video with Matthew West notes how the video was made? It makes me cry.

Matthew West is a prolific writer (and has made up songs at his concerts based on stories in the audience) with hundreds of songs under his belt. Some of my faves are "Do Something", "The Motions", "The Reason for the World", "The End", "Grace Wins" and a current faves "Mercy is a Song" and "Walking Miracles".

"Grace Wins" but Matthew West is great! Plus plenty of others. He's been around forever it seems.

My father passed away and so many asked how was I doing and I lied saying " I'm fine" but I was hurting to the depths. This song changed my mindset.

I'm so sorry for the pain you're going through with losing your father. My son was 38 when he passed 5 years ago but church ppl never mention it. I've become a professional Christian as well. If I would ask anyone for anything it would be to share a memory they have of my son . It feels like a gift, or smile or flowers to me. He lives again for a little while in my heart. But we'll see each other face to face soon. Be blessed beloved.

forgiveness is a really good one by him too. Also, I love the sentiment about treating churches like hospitals where everyone is welcome because everyone needs healing. I've definitely been in that position where people have been better than me in the church, even in my current church, even in my own family. And that feeling can make it feel like why do you even try. But you have to realize you dont do it for them. You dont do it for you. You do it for Him and how He sees you is all that matters.

When I first heard this song on K-Love I was sitting in the parking lot of Dollar General crying my eyes out! I was ugly crying! I’m going through a lot and every time someone asks I say “I’m fine.”

The church i regularly attend has the motto no perfect people allowed. The motto of this song. It is a great church.

This song saved my life. My girlfriend introduced me to this song, and it moved me to finally going through with baptism. After hearing the effect she had on me, she was so moved that we got baptized together.

I loved the story behind the song. As he said, he didn't want to be a professional christian, but rather he wanted to be a true christian where he didn't judge people, and he did allow people to speak to him openly without judgment.

Matthew West music is so truthful! Many of his song have been used for God to speak to me! This is one of the tops! Listen to "Forgiveness" (and the story behind it)

Being an adult for the last 2 decades, I've made it an active habit to not lie to people, outside of things like saying "I'm fine" when I'm not just because I don't wanna talk about something. Its liberating knowing that you shared the truth and others aren't misguided towards any situation. The hardest part about not lying is watching others lie, in an attempt to get ahead at something and you have that mistreated feeling. I have to remind myself that they don't live my life, they don't build my values and beliefs, and in the end I'll have the peace of knowing that I done it right, by my own self. You're born alone, you'll die alone, it's the in between that makes you who you are aside from others.

This song stands out its pretty simple but powerful. I just heard it on the radio and this is the third time I heard it a simple gospel along is all people need to hear..

Matthew West is perhaps the best songwriter in Nashville/Christian music right now. This song SHOULD have (but didn't) won the Dove Award for Song of the Year a couple years back when it was nominated. Truth Be Told is my fave MW song!

I have no regrets about raising my daughters in church. I believe they needed to see examples of Christ. The examples often were judgemental. As I spent time talking with them, I realized that God was showing me there are so many problems with 'the church'. Thatnis not our answer! Our answer is total Relationship with God, through Christ!
