Ойын-сауық
Matthew was kind enough to take care of something that's been bugging Dave.

5/18/98 This tall man with a Late Show with David Letterman hat on came out of the stage door of the Ed Sullivan Theater. He had some bodyguards with him, turned and went walking down the street. We couldn’t see who it was and we were already risking being late for our client meeting. I thought it might be Harry Connick Jr., so I turned to my friend Tim McKee and said, “We’re staying here until we find out who that was”. You see, it was my very first business trip to NYC. We got in early and had spent the afternoon walking around Manhattan. When we happened upon The Ed Sullivan Theater stage door, it was at around 5 pm so we knew they were taping and decided to stand there by the barricades and limos and see who came out. That’s when the tall man who I thought was Harry Connick Jr. came out, and I declared to Tim (who was my boss at the time) that we were staying put. Well, the man and the bodyguards did come back, and it was none other than Matthew Perry. 1998. The height of “Friends” popularity. He went back into the theater through the stage door. Turns out he was playing a prank with Dave by defacing the Friends billboard. Well, you better believe that I was not going to budge, come hell or high water until he came back out to leave. I just wanted a picture OF him…not WITH him. I mean, there were barricades and I’m ballsy, but not that ballsy. Well, apparently I am that ballsy, because when he was coming back out, I basically shoved my little Kodak camera in Tim’s hands and said, “I’m going to try to get a picture with Matthew Perry!” Nonchalantly walked around the barricade, and politely asked the bodyguard/limo driver if I could get a picture with Matthew. He said, “stand right here”, which was right by the limo. Matthew came out, the bodyguard asked him to take a picture with me, and he graciously agreed to do so. Tim snapped the photo of a lifetime. It looked like I was getting into the limo with Matthew Perry. Unfortunately, the photo got destroyed during a very dark period of my life. 😢 I’ll never forget that day and how sweet and gracious Mattew was to take a picture with a fan from Nebraska. Rest in peace Matthew. And thank you for that singular moment we shared.

I paused the Audiobook to come and find this... Great book. Great guy R.I.P Matthew Perry you crazy diamond 💎
Just listened to Matthew’s book on Audible. 2 years sober now I felt I could relate to his story more than any other “quit lit” I’ve ever read. He will help millions of “us” for having the courage to tell it.

Listened to the book twice in a week
He had a one of a kind thing going on, his personality.
Now watching this after reading his book and knowing how tormented he was. I remember watching this years ago when it first aired and laughing along with Matthew Perry 😢
I love Matthew so much, as a Chandler. He went through with drugs and alcohol and that is sad, because he is very talented guy and I wish him best.
I'm actually here after reading Mathew Perry's book 😅
I’m here after his death. Mathew Perry 1969-2023
Interesting how Courtney's face was not ruined.
Personally, I would buy a shirt or stationery with Dave's cartoon drawing of the lawyer on it - no explanation, just have it on stuff.
Honestly, wish he could have seen himself the way others did. It breaks my heart after reading his book, to know that he had so many demons and all he was going through throughout his career and relationships. I’m glad he found God, he talks about spirituality in his book…that is what is comforting after his untimely passing.
We'll miss you, buddy.
the greatness of dave was ..he could take this kind of nonsense and stretch it for comedy for months...

I know I love Dave too, but I do suggest you look up the Norm MacDonald Matthew Perry genius joke if you are not already familiar. Matthew Perry had a big ego and the execs were all treating him like a genius who invested sarcasm.
Sadly it is always the flash (flesh, sorry) that gets the better of us😥😭
Now this is a show
It still doesn’t give you the right to destroy other peoples property. This was done for ratings. Sad Matthew has gone what a very handsome guy he was and a great comedic actor. Rip
Indeed a very caring friend. Just what friends are for??
RIP Matthew 😢

I hate when I deface a billboard and the paint won't come off...

god Letterman is so unfunny
It’s a shame what happened to him but I never found him funny at all. He had to do a script on Friends which to me wasn’t funny so that wasn’t his fault. Outside of friends to me he wasn’t funny either.

He's not in the top 10 or anything but he did great for his character on Friends and at least 1 movie. That's a success any way you slice it. Maybe his thing was more "sarcastic entertainment."
