His father, Vincenzo Mancuso, was for years the guitarist (live/studio) of one of the most important Italian singer-songwriters, Francesco De Gregori. As a long time guitar player I always thought it would make sense to play the current styles of guitar with your right hand fingers but there was no way I could start over again, it's awesome to see this. Great playing dude. I have to start looking for his music.
@SurfingSerpent4 жыл бұрын
It’s interesting how he plays at two angles for his right hand, one where it’s the position for playing a pick at 45 degrees (but without a pick), and another angle where it’s more like classical guitar so he can pluck the strings directly up. The first angle enables more string muting because the thumb can rest on the bottom strings, but the second angle enables a crisper sound because he is plucking straight up instead of at a diagonal angle. Both hand positions have their use.
@benjamindague-classicalgui764
A lot of classical players switch from the first position of the RH to the other position for different reasons. I know when I play usually my RH is mainly in the first hand position, and then switch to the more direct angle for rest strokes and/or a brighter tone. I think he does the different angle for speed and rest strokes a lot.

Truly one of the most gifted guitarists of this era. He's the logical successor to Guthrie Govan with his stunning technique, range and feel. I expect him to be study material in music schools. Let's hope he continues to play and entertain us with his magic for decades to come!
Matteo is a human sound machine whose natural appendage is the guitar 🎸 ! What a gift.

No doubt. It just lacks the "listenability".. It's too all over the place to be readily enjoyable.. If it had some steady rock hooks and grooves it would be more accessible.. I'm sure many will disagree though

A true master of the instrument. His musicality and fluency are unlike anything heard before. Yes, the references to Holdsworth and the more recent Govan are there, but Matteo brings them to a whole new level of excellence. Grandissimo.
BRAVO!! His TONE is what made alllll of his chops more enjoyable. Being a Guthrie Govan fan, Shawn Lane, Allan Holdsworth, etc... it’s all about there tone. Dudes got a bright future ahead. Love it

Spain was awesome , I did not know it was one of Chick Korea's . I heard it before in one from John Mclaughlin and Paco De Lucia's concert . I loved the song so much, especially the main riff or melody whatever that is, it's so beautiful . This is the link to the John Mclaughlin concert where I first listened to Spain , you might find it worth watching -: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nmZpxZKFdKnRqpc.html

My favorite jazz player of modern times
Virtuosity in a cold climate. For me, he's the most exciting young player out there. His awareness of what he's doing, communicates directly with the audience.
Great to see another up and comer Guitarist using Yamaha Revstar, I marvel at his finger techniques.
Negative comments about this young man's playing here? Why? His command of the instrument, Technical ability and absolute Nuance playing are unparalleled. He's brilliant and oh by the way check out his right hand.
The top player now.
Grande orgoglio e talento Palermitano nel panorama chitarristico mondiale! Congratulazione per lo stile e la bravura. Continua così!
Brilliant! Unique picking style and wickedly awesome taste, tone and speed! This young man can play folks!
Even established veterans of guitar are touting this guy as the most impressive on the scene now.
Any musician who knows what it is to have cold fingers understand the struggle for dexterity. Matteo always overcomes as I pray his soul does too...
Grande Mr Mancuso!
Mind blowing. That's all I can say. (Slight pause,...then the soft swishing sound of my guitar flying out the window as it crashes to the ground below.) LOL
Virtuoso, live! Brilliant! Guitar 🎸 master! Virtuosity on display!
Just amazing, incredible, wonderful, unbelievable, fantastic and every other synonym that you can think of!!!!!!
Matteo, simply a superior mind. Everything starts from the brain. Technique, musical creative ideas, phrasing, musicality and more are direct consequences. First of all, he has an incredible head, that's what I think. In every musical genre his performance is the top.
World-class talent with ridiculously incredible chops and knowledge. It will be a fun ride to see where he takes this in the coming years!!
Opening with Guthrie Govan? The balls!
This is so cool to see Matteo play live and hear him speak, just awesome! He's just an amazing player and shows so much talent and skill. Pure musicality.

It's cold out there, man! I know all about it. Fingers buck in the cold. But brother Matteo makes the best of it. I've never heard a sound from this young man I didn't admire.
Bravo!

Bluepajamas GG : Unless you can play like him, this has nothing to do with your generation.
As a long time guitar player I always thought it would make sense to play the current styles of guitar with your right hand fingers but there was no way I could start over again, it's awesome to see this. Great playing dude. I have to start looking for his music.
@benjamindague-classicalgui764

A lot of classical players switch from the first position of the RH to the other position for different reasons. I know when I play usually my RH is mainly in the first hand position, and then switch to the more direct angle for rest strokes and/or a brighter tone. I think he does the different angle for speed and rest strokes a lot.
His reaction at 5.14 when he nailed that lick was amazing.
Isn't it unfair to be so great AND so ridiculously handsome? I mean shouldn't he have to look a little like Allan Holdsworth?
