Vintage Kurt Russel. My brother and I had all of Agent Zero's equipment. Wish I still did.
I actually had one of these as a kid, my grandmother picked it up at Woolworth's. she thought it was a kids radio like a walkie talkie. of course she didn't think that young boys even back in the 70's should play with toy guns. and when she saw me running around her yard with it fully open. it suddenly disappeared.

Well that sucks! I pretty much got guns out of my system as a kid. Haven’t had one since.🤞🏼 But… maybe I’ll go try to find one that’s also a radio and start over. You know… for grandma and country n all that. Agent crazy legs, out. 😉

Which one Mattel or tootsie roll
Kurt would eventually drop the Mattel Radio Rifle and pick up a scoped Ingram MAC-10 in the movie "Escape from New York".
"That's a tune they didn't expect" might be the best Bond line ever...

Haha yes, I love his delivery of that line.
I sooooo remember The Mattel Agent Zero M line! Especially the camera that flipped into a gun! Totally Boss!
Holy shit, my Grandfather gave me one of these for Christmas when I was 10. I loved that fricken thing!
This was Mattel's entry in the "spy toy" sweepstakes, in 1965. Kurt (as "Bobby") divided his time between commercials, roles in feature films and guest starring roles in TV shows {"GILLIGAN'S ISLAND", "LOST IN SPACE", etc.}. The NEXT spot is a 1965 Tootsie Roll ad, with character actor Bill McCutcheon [he's also in a 1966 Geritol ad that Ira has in his collection].
It sure is Kurt Russel. Was lucky enough to have one of these. Took down a lot of stupid enemy agents, too! Really did play a tune they didn't expect.
Who'd have figured back then that Kurt would star in so many movies? Really loved his character in Used Cars.
I am lucky to have grown up when I did. Being a kid back then meant pretending, innocence and fun. A better time when you could be a kid with toy guns and more and no one was afraid of any of it. You could bring these to school and get an A for Show and Tell. Also, it must be noted that with all this kind of stuff, there was no violence in schools. That came from proper upbringing, family, school and respect. Yes, it was a better time.

+George Vreeland Hill Back then you could play with BB guns on you front lawn and no one blinked an eye. The cops didn't even sweat it.
Yep. I had one of these as a kid. Guessing I was 6 yo so would have been 1966ish? I assured our neighbors that I was close by--ready to serve and protect!
I had both the "radio" and the "camera". What was neat about the "radio" was that the stock and barrel would snap into place as you held the handle - just as Kurt demonstrated.
I also had one of these toy guns. It was the best one made for good old 007 imaginary play as a child.
that first one with a young Kurt Russell must have been made during TVs "spy craze" in the 60s

I knew I recognized that kid. Kurt Russell
omg, brings back memories, I had that rifle and the pen with the secret glasses. they were a red film. there was also a brief case that shot a plastic bullet without opening it. and a hole for a camera that you could take a picture with no one noticing. it was fun to play spy back then. 007 was so popular.

The Thing would have been better if Kurt played Snake and was sent there to take on the creature.
commercials back then are better then the commercials now a days.

That was Kurt Russell in the commercial. Probably one of his earlier television appearances.
Funny thing is that Magpul actually came out with a prototype submachine gun very similar to this in 2008. The Magpul FMG-9.

Seems like there was a camera that snapped into a luger too. I wanted this shit but dammit, I never got it.
Ok , I think I remember the Tootsie Roll commercial. I think it was on TV in 1965. There were" Long time , long time chewy Tootsie Rolls last a long time" ads in DC Comics in 1965 .
OMG, I remember these commercials on TV
i had one, those were great toys like my johnny seven
I completely forgot about this.. I had one too.. it as well as many of my toys just went missing one day.. my mom decided I didn’t need it anymore.. probably gave them to some “needy’ children.. I needed them.. she didn’t have to look far..
Holy cow... it IS Kurt Russel
You know what ol' agent Zero M says at a time like this? Old Agent Zero M says 'What the hell' "
I had one of these toys, and loved it soo much. Brings back great times to me, thanks
Double recognition, Kurt Russel in the toy commercial and the guy in the Tootsie Roll commercial played Droppo in Santa Claus Conquers The Martians.

"In all that time working those cow towns, I was only ever mixed up in one shooting. Just one. But a man lost his life and I took it. You don't know how that feels, and believe me Morg, you don't ever want to know. Not ever."
I really liked that show back in those days. I had one of those radio guns but not a tuxedo. That appears to be Kurt Russell near the beginning of his career.

It is Kurt Russell, and it's an ad he made when he was 12 or 13, playing a bit younger.
Nothing stops enemy agents in their tracks like a 30-foot jet of water!
I remember both commercials! Wow.
Is that Doodles Weaver (from Spike Jones' band) in the Tootsie Roll commercial? DANG!
Had both of those as well as the Sonic Blaster. My buddy across the street had the camera that turns into pistol. Together we kept the neighborhood safe from foreign agents.

I saw the radio gun used as an actual prop in one of the KOMMISAR X series of 60s spy movies. I was pretty impressed when I first saw it, but not so much now seeing that they just used an off the shelf toy from Woolworths.

That toy kicked ass
And only a few short years later this young man grew up to be Elvis!😏🎼🎸🕺B.W.
I had one of those, although at the time, they were linking it to the MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E TV series.
" long time, long time, chewy, chewy tootsie roll lasts a long time, " I started singing this when I was eating one because it brought back memories of when I was a kid . The old lady thought I was nuts. Her top end reminds me of the candy " Milk Duds " but there's no song for it.
There was also a toy gun that looked like a camera. I had one. You pulled the lever down on the side, the gun barrel pops out the side and the grip flips down the bottom. [caps not included]

had it! had the camera gun too!

How did that guy make the sound of the horn with his mouth like that? Wow!
Thats some slick stuff right there
OH MY GOSH! I KNOW THAT ACTOR!!!!!!!! It's nice to see his early years haha
in a way, this is pretty much the grandfather of the Deploy, and of course the russian PP-90 submachine gun which was often seen in RoboCop 2
Wyatt Earp looking good in that little tux
They were the days.
Yes, they would. I remember a toy that came with cowboy guns and Indian bow and arrows; that sure wouldn't float these days. I got the radio/gun for Christmas when I was a kid.
Even top secret agents have to mow the #@€£¥ lawn!
Is that Droppo eating Tootsie Rolls
Radio that turns into a gun? Reminds me of the Japanese Microman line from the 70's/80's. Vehicles & cassette tapes that would turn into things like robots or weapons.
The good old days. George Vreeland Hill
Ideal Toys had 'Secret Sam' spy briefcase.
Hey! That's Kurt Russell!
Awesome!
That's a big-ass Tootsie Roll...
If Kurt walked into a restaurant with that toy gun today he could get away with it. If I did it in this day and age cops would spray me with bullets.

Now why didn't my parents get me that radio rifle? 😮
Wonder if Kurt checks these out.
The following Christmas a young Snake Plissken received the infamous Red Ryder BB Gun!That's when he shot his eye out!
