I had forgotten about this - but I HAD the barrel of monkeys toy! Played with it all the time when I was a little kid :-)

That Johnny Reb cannon must have been hard to sell. Average Mom: "I'm not having that thing in my house. Next thing you know, I'll have a shitload of broken table lamps!" Those DX race sets look pretty cool. Growing up in Eastern Massachusetts, we didn't have any DX gas stations. If we did, every kid I knew would have had both of those race tracks.

All of those commercials were made way before I was born. However, I had a plastic "Barrel of Money" that were different colors as a child:)! My Boyfriend is interested in the Civil War. I know that when he was a child he would have really enjoyed that Toy Cannon:)!

I had barrel of monkeys. Until the dog got hold of them and chewed them up into a plastic pulp

Only 11.99, a lot of money in 60s, my dad would never went for that, damm, i paid 550.00 for my 72 ford galaxy 500, that was 4 years old, used piece that rode sweet, 350

That Civil War Cannon Toy is Sooooooo AWESOME!!! I want one. But there definitely is no way in high he'll that they would promote and sell that toy in today's day and age! But that thing was better than any toy gun or nerf gun I have seen and they have some pretty amazing nerf guns anymore. That cannon was so cool. I would love to see one in person and test it out!!!

Johnie reb was the bomb in the 60s, omg, only 11.99, that was a lotof money in 60s, the movie was .25 and McDonald hamburger was .15,fries were .10,do the math!

Loved the ' Barrel Of Monkeys' that I received for Christmas 1969. Also the ' Super City' set, not shown in this video. My buddy Bruce had something just like that DX gas station promo, an action race car track set up.

Those DX gas stations had some coole stuff! Now all you can get is junk food!

🤔Odd name to give for the toy pup, considering the meaning of Gaylord, (gaillard) french for joyful / high spirited. I'd name it Slow-poke 🤣😂! No matter though, that looks like one heck of a sweet toy to have given a child, especially one whining for a pup. No noisy barks, and best of all no doggy poop to scoop up🤣!

That's the kind of toys we had back then. My favorite was the big bang carbide Cannon. It had a little chamber that you put water and calcium carbide in,which produce tons of fun acetylene gas. When let off the cannon would make an explosion like you wouldn't believe! Now that was a kick-ass toy! I hardly got burned at all.
