The English album Warriors is a Thank You to their non-German fans to the occasion of the 20th anniversary and, as you've suggested to have a better chance on exploring foreign markets. The majority are translated re-recordings of previously existing German songs (German Highlander was on last year's album Fegefeuer) and one or two newly written ones. There was a promo cd that came with a magazine (around the time Fegefeuer was released) which contained the translated versions of Untot im Drachenboot (Undead on the Dargon Boat [Drakkar]) titled Death on the Dragon Ship and Kampfzwerg (Battle Dwarf/ Fighting Dwarf) titled Wardwarf which both are on the upcoming Warriors album . Those are quite well converted, catching the theme and the mood of the lyrics. Growing up it wasn't unusual at all to have different language versions of a song floating around, sometimes by the original artist (ABBA did a Swedish, a German & a French version of Waterloo, Italian pop rock band Matia Bazar made an English version of their single Ti Sento/ I Feel You, French singer Rose Laurens recorded english versions of several songs) or by native artists (several ABBA songs were recorded by German artists, Ingrid Peters did Rose Laurens' Africa, at one point the German (Roland Kaiser) and the original Italian (Oliver Onions) version of Santa Maria have replaced themselves on the no. 1 spot of the single charts, there are German versions of Cher's Believe (Mary Roos: Leider Lieb Ich Dich Immer Noch) and Black Sabbath's Paranoid [Cindy & Bert: Der Hund von Baskerville]).

I am so happy they are doing English version. I am curious to see how the English version goes for them. I hope it opens them up to more of the world. Selfishly, I just want them to tour here. Thank you for sharing.

🦾 You have to love their energy, it's infectious 💥 Btw: I'm german and I listen to german and english songs from them. It doesn't matter for me except if the lyrics are super deep. Because maybe it's easier to say deep things in the language you know the best.

I love the idea of the english translated songs, Sabaton released Carolus Rex in both Swedish and English I love them both.. so I guess it will be the same with Feuerschwanz... I listen to both languages and enjoy them equally.

Can't wait the new Album and even more I can't wait see them live, I have a ticket for Cologne in May the 4th. 🤩😎🤘 I love both versions very much. But as a German, I like the german version a little bit more. Yes, it is similar to Nena's 99 Luftballons (99 red ballons), as someone who growed up at the 70s/80s (yes, I am old 😂), I loved the german version. (Btw. I don't like the person Nena, because she is a coronavirus-denier and conspiracy theorist, but I like her songs).

I am jealous, I want to see them live. I really hope they come to the U.S. please let me know how the show is. As far as Nena goes, I don’t really know anything about her, I really just know both versions of 99 red balloons. I love both versions of the song. Thank you for sharing my friend.

The original lyrics on 99 Luftballons are simply better! 😂 Sabaton's En Livstid i krig is also way better in Swedish than in English (disclaimer, don't speak Swedish, but I speak a little Norwegian). I suppose it depends in what language it was originally written, how well the author/s know said language. Most of Amorphis' lyrics are originally written in Finnish and then translated, and damn me if I know how it works so well. This song is great fun, I haven't heard the German lyrics version yet , but I like this one. The funny thing is that I don't know their discography well, but I'll be seeing them in May. Guess I have homework.

@@MattsMoshPit1 I believe it will be great fun in any case. The whole thing was my friend's idea, she decided she really wanted to go see Feuerschwanz with me, and she's never been to a metal concert. The fun is guaranteed. I've been told they're really good live though, I guess I'll find out just how good.

Well, you're no wrong entirely😆. This album *does* exist because of English language responses as a gift to the non-Germanophone fans. We Germans just take it as well if it's there🤣. Best regards Raoul G. Kunz

Rammstein benefits from the “evil image” of the German language. Feuerschwanz can't do that because the sound doesn't fit. After they have largely exhausted the German market, they need to expand further internationally. The English language helps because it corresponds to listening habits. But as you discovered yourself: it sounds better in the singer's language. You can't always translate words between languages directly. Due to the history of a country, the words have a different meaning because the context is different. Sometimes there is simply no suitable word. That's why The Warning has two songs in Spanish, even though they sing mostly in English: The Warning - MARTIRIO Live at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 08/29/2022 In Germany, Nena only sings in German. She became famous with a wave of German-speaking singers, which is why changing languages was out of the question. The English versions were only for the international market. She is also still active, but the average age of her audience is high: NENA | In My Life (Live 2018) (HD)

German fits Metal very well. I know many, who perfers it in German (though not their native tongue). But yes, this album could open markets, and then the fans get into their original German stuff as well.

Even though I like that Feuerschwanz sings mostly in german, but in this case I prefer this version to the german one. Germans are used to international hits being covered in german, so it's nothing foreign to us. It's not that common for german songs to be translated into english, but it mostly works, with Kraftwerk e.g. there are interesting versions of their music in english. The reason for the second release is of course to target the american market. This failed in the past for two main reasons: if the translations were "only" added for commercial reasons, the quality usually suffered. Nena is a good example, when the success of "99 Luftballons" became apparent, the record company commissioned the text and urged the band to record the versions. The rhythm of the language doesn't fit, the translation isn't good. By the way, the band hated the english version. Another reason, regardless of the quality of the translation, is of course the general american disinterest in music that comes from Germany, but also e.g. from France, with exceptions of course (Rammstein).

@@MattsMoshPit1 Oh I think it's already paid off for them, maybe not economically yet, but it's of course important for a band to set new goals and ideally it strengthens the bond between fans and band. As much as I would be happy for you if you could go to one of their concerts in America, I would be just as happy if you visited us in Europe.

I will be in London in October for Arch Enemy and In Flames and Germany in late November/early December for the various Christmas markets. I would love to see some shows in Germany if there are any that can fit into the itinerary.

@@MattsMoshPit1We already "talked" that you would be in Germany at the beginning of December. At that time I was looking for dates for Feuer Schwanz in Germany and was only focused on the date in Cologne, but they are playing on December 6th in Vienna together with ORDEN OGAN and DOMINUM. I don't know if you already had the two bands on your channel, they would also be suitable as headliners. ORDEN OGAN also released a new video today, I just haven't seen it yet, in any case I recommend one of their classics "Gunman". Vienna is also worth a visit at any time, but especially at Christmas. I also know that ACCEPT will be on tour in November to promote their new album. If you visit Christmas markets, try to include at least one in Cologne, Dresden, Erfurt, Munich, Berlin or Nuremberg in your route. But if you are in one of these cities, find out beforehand which markets are taking place, because usually there is not just one, but in some of these cities there are 4 or 5 and some are just mass events.
