Matt Sheahan at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show

Спорт

Why the opening show of the season was so cool.
As always the RYA Dinghy and Watersports show was buzzing with boats, banter and bargains but this year also marked a big change with the move to its new venue in Farnborough. And after the lost year of 2021 it was especially good to be back.
Among the long list of fascinating exhibits I discovered:
- How reducing the aero drag on a foiling Moth allows the latest generation to clock up 18knots upwind and just 30+ knots downwind
- What a Moth and an America's Cup AC75 have in common
- The case for the fully electric RIB (want one)
- How a 60+ year old boat can beat the carbon hot shots in its own class (want one)
- Why America’s Cup crew Freddie Carr admitted to’ Geeking out in his anorak’
- How an exciting skiff class has reinvented itself (want one)
…and lots more
1:20 Adam May explains the latest foiling Moth
6:22 The featherlight International Canoe
7:41 Three very different Merlins
11:32 Freddie Carr...and what he's got his eye on
15:44 The case for the fully electric RIB - RS Pulse 6.3
20:06 Big bangs, small bucks, why the 4000 could fit your wallet

Matt - very encouraging to see the Dingy get the love and attention they deserve - being over 65 I am consigned to "Fantasy Land" i.e. Aft of the traveler...... the joys of being self loading ballast I suppose..... Great vidoe as usual

Yes very true words, I’ve always loved the Dinghy Show, i go back as far as the Pickets Lock show days with my Dad and collecting stickers from the stands.

Love the tour of the show, but better still I really appreciate your insight in to sail sport / sailing in general. Really nice channel.

Interesting stuff. Thank you. Maybe you could have also covered the non-racing aspects such as dinghy cruising?

Love your comment on the excruciating to sail Laser .. what dinghy do you recommend for those of us seniors looking for a bit of comfort, not too much of a handfull and easy on our old bones and skinny bums?

Nice boats, but the emphasis seems to be very much high performance (with appropriate prices). Was there anything there that catered for those that like to cruise, or perhaps appreciate traditional and wooden boats?
