Well he immediately debuts in the top storyline in wrestling so that helps. Mercedes just came out, promo, smiled, waved and it was just eh. WWE can't be matched when it comes to presentation

It's the presentation. Tama debuted straight into the sequel of the biggest storyline in recent years and then the next week, he followed up by beating the blood out of Kevin Owens. If there's anyone who didn't know who Tama Tonga is, they'll be like, Okay, This guy ain't F-king around.

i disagree about “hype” because AEW is all hype, but in reality it’s really empty. They need consistency which is lacking and really turns away a lot of fans including me.

AEW trying to complete with WWE in ratings is straight up goofy. It's not even a close 2nd. It's leaps and bounds, it's literally 30 years of time and experience vs 5 years.

exactly so the fact being that Raw brings in 1.5 million viewers and AEW brings in 800K . Them being that close with a main WWE brand after only 5 years says a lot on its own. It doesn't need to be a competition . Just because one brand has been around longer then the other means nothing. It doesn't mean the new brand can't put out a better product then the one that's been around . Just because more people are watching doesn't mean the product is better then the other .

The difference between the Punk/Cole/Danielson debuts and the Ospreay/Okada/Mone debuts is that most mainstream wrestling fans don't know enough about Ospreay or Okada to put them on the level of Punk/Cole/Danielson in terms of tuning in. You didn't have to tell people who Punk/Cole/Danielson were. You needed the time (as Matt was saying) to show who they are and why they're a big deal.

Exactly.. Cole was on NXT, most of their older brothers grew up watching Punk, and everybody loves Danielson..Osprey is the only new addition that has been bringing in fans

I agree with Matt. And one thing AEW could do better is start laying seeds for future matches. Their whole formula just feels rushed and not thought out. Plans should be thought out months in advance... Lay some seeds with differing branching possibilities of big matches. They just have big names come in, and have matches... Anyone could do that. AEW needs to showcase their roster and promote the big players

They don't lay seeds at all. Tony loves giving dream matches after dream matches, but he rushes them and within few months it's forgotten. Imagine if he builds those up, with proper time, adding layers to it, building the hatred and making it more personal other than let's see who the best wrestler in the world is, how much better and bigger it would feel.

Sasha went there for bag security. Her cousin, who is one of most recognized celebrities on the planet is still a big ambassador for Wwe and just had a replica title in his latest video. I wouldn't be surprised if Nick Khan and Triple H said "get what you can out of that idiot and come back". She main evented a Wrestlemania and only wwe knows how to utilize her. She signed that Aew contract knowing Tony Khan is an idiot

Bryan Alvarez hit the nail on the head last week, and I never even thought of it until he said it. He said that the main reason why AEW was hot 2 years ago was because WWE absolutely sucked. I never thought about it, but he was right. Two years ago, I used to be way into AEW, going to shows in Jacksonville, and spending money with them like there was no tomorrow. But when Vince left, and Triple H took over creative, it revitalized WWE. And now AEW is mediocre at best. It probably always was. I just never noticed.

It's called hot shot booking and this is exactly why they called it killing a town. When you come out and throw EVERYTHING out what comes next? What champion did you lure now? Okada should have been a series of vignettes showing his decision and making it out to be one of the hardest choices for him ever. Week 2 hes back reliving some of his biggest moments talking directly about the series with Kenny Omega. How it made Omega a household name and it was just a blip on the radar of his championship reigns. Week 3 you have the presser where Okada announces he will be making the move to AEW. Week 4 he debuts in the arena to sign his exclusive AEW contract. No run ins nothing extra you let Okada be the draw. This is how you create value in Okada to get the casuals on board. Osprey I would have done completely different. He deserves more as does Jay White, Wardlow and many many more.

They did have one O.M.E.G.A. Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts. Before they were ever signed (1997-99)then rebooted it for a while bringing it back with Shane Helms as the acting head of it in in 2013 and has been back on hiatus since 2017

Hate to break it to you but you definitely do not represent even 1% of the pupillary so you may want to think a bit more before saying stuff like that.

Tony just isnt strict with talent, he does push people in strange intervals, there is story but its long term. They are not good with short term story lines.

I stopped ordering PPVs, and watching all together after the first incident. When I saw that the company was run by the dollar store DX, and not by proven draws. I knew it was over. After that is when I noticed wrestlers working who they want, vs who they should in logical progression. Then having all those stars from new japan either wrestle or appear on their shows before they officially signed them only dampened their debuts. Not to mention their lackluster booking. Why are Okada or Osprey not in the world title picture? Why is Mone going after Willow and the Womens world title?

Aew 100% needs more story to build up these wrestlers, we dont want to see tony pull his toys out the box and throw inside the ring anymore, we need more backstage, lockroom build ups/fights, promos, over weeks at a time. Imagine we got all those factions in aew, they could go a month or two fighting between different members, instead of 1 big 5v5 match..

People keep pointing to All Out 2021 as the greatest ppv AEW had but honestly that was when it felt too much like old TNA bringing in way too many big WWE names all at once.

Once Punk, Rides and Garghill left. The only one left worth watching is MJF. I haven't watched AEW in months.

The booking has been a bigger driver to running the viewers away in my opinion. Some wrestling fans like to see the real life drama play out in the ring, which did not happened and that drove even more fans away.

No one stopped watching because of backstage issues. They stop watching because they do not make you care about anyone. Besides rare case of someone like MJF, I think most wrestlers need help getting over from people in the back that have experience. Tony Khan has no idea how to get wrestlers over. He needs to hire someone to lay down the law in a helpful way and stay out of their own way. A veteran that can give them tips and whether they like it or not, listen to the veteran. I am enjoying what they are doing with Shibata and would have enjoyed the TK beat down more last night if they just would have punched and kicked him….they flip into the spike pile driver looked lame.

My own personal opinion is they haven't peaked, they do have stories, and it is allot of talent to handle but Tony Khan seems to be doing very well juggling it. Speaking as an AEW fan day one, who stopped watching years ago. AEW lost me before punk even arrived. The stuff with punk and everything after was just a constant reminder not to bother coming back. Bad booking, too many here today gone for weeks wrestlers, womens division went downhill after brit bakers title run, I was excited for thunder rosa as champ and they did nothing with it and you could tell they had no idea what to do with the women. The bucks matches after you seen it once, that's all you wanted to see, no reason to watch another match, same for orange cassidy, especially after seeing them wrestle moxley and Kingston, one of the worst tag matches that made no sense and just made moxley and Kingston look like complete idiots. Bad ppv production, I shouldn't have to hope by the time Cody vs Jericho match happens that the audio will be fixed and you won't here the concert next door over everything. Too many primadonnas IRL, these people need to get off social media and stop doing public appearances or hire someone to do it for them and teach them how to act in public. And there are just so many other problems. Honestly when TK stops acting like he is playing with toys and takes the business seriously call me, I might tune in. Until then I just not going to bother. And I do hope they go out of business, because basic economics, they go out of business other smaller businesses will grow and become bigger. TNA is actually doing better, better stuff going on at the moment there, they at least are making go, wow, looks what is going on here, instead of AEW where it's like, ok, stay away they still acting like kids
