I lost my job at a large firearms retailer for the exact same reason. The ATF gave a approval # to the FDLE and a store audit found that in a week the number was changed to a non approved # and three of us lost our jobs over this. The ATF should be dismantled and this ATF director is such a idiot he should be fired.

For what its worth I do think that those like Gaetz do want to defund it. Whenever someone is in this position to be questioned by Congress it’s the same shit. No matter what you will look like a jerkoff because they have total control. The tables could easily be turned and someone could question Gaetz about his past for example and it would look the same. As you can see the congressman can just interrupt the speaker without any reason. You could never look good in that position. They’ll purposely structure a question that’s impossible to answer just yes or no too and when you try to explain literally anything you will hear I NEED A YEA OR NO ANSWER.. lol just saying

@Brad H Yes, and unlike the criminal system's presumption of innocence until proven guilty, with the IRS, one is guilty unless and until one can prove him or her self innocent. I provided sufficient proof to beat my audit of a past tax return, but it wasn't easy and wouldn't have been possible without much help. 20 years ago the IRS made much trouble in my life all over less than $1000, BUT LOST! Extracting and extorting money from working folks at gun point looks good on paper to generate revenue, but just might generate revolt instead.

To put into perspective the great and powerful ATF, we had them come in and perform an audit at my place of work. We had to GUIDE them on how to perform their own audit. What’s more, they ONLY looked at the paperwork on the boxes and assumed that the lowers that were listed on the paperwork were in the box. Rather than CONFIRMING each lower’s number matched what was listed in the paperwork. Incompetence at its finest.

Defund the A.T.F. and send them all to prison!!

it's shocking, isn't it? i watch these government official's in congressional hearings over and over being questioned about crazy things and they give non answers that i could never give with a straight face. if i was in their shoes, not only would i be incredibly nervous knowing i was in charge of things when some terribly incompetent and/or downright illegal things were going on under my watch, but i also could never be capable of just brushing these hard questions off and answering them with word soup t hat makes no sense and completely ignores the question, as if the questioner and person being questioned are speaking different languages. honestly it must take some serious practice and coaching or they must be complete sociopaths (probably both, they're sociopaths with coaching and practice)

In terms of ATF/DEA I agree. But the USMS and HSI are literally reconverting dozens of human trafficking victims per week. We need strict enforcement on our federal agencies with directly drawn lines as to the extent of their powers. The framers gave the government quite a bit of power, and I think just over the last 40 years we’ve seen the tipping point as to where they’re headed. The hardest part of this is knowing that we have such little recourse outside of chaos and lawlessness. People like to talk about “watering the tree with tyrants blood” etc, and obviously the vast majority are grown men who have no idea how to clear a weapons malfunction… But even the idea of that seems to not sink in with a lot of people. If we get to the point where we’re organizing against our own government, the amount of opportunists mixed with infighting is going to create the catalyst for the end of this nation in a very, very bloody way. I’ve grown pretty disgruntled after serving this country and seeing where it’s going both socially and economically. I’m willing and able to “go”, I just fear the aftermath.

A Lion's share of them may not have even addressed their Legislators in order that they may question some of these Agencies erroneous actions. I do believe that when Justice is not carried out (and made visible to the Public) people become disheartened; and after a continuous pattern of events, those that do believe and are subject to Federal and State Justice become upset.

That is because nobody lets them answer. Basically, there is a rule when testifying to define terms. Any witness knows that to avoid confusion or a perjury charge, you have to define terms. Matt does not let someone answer. He tries to ask misleading questions which make people look evasive when they are not. He does this by asking questions which assume facts that the witness disputes. This forces the witness to be unable to answer the question directly. An example of this strategy applied to a DWI trial: "Sir, are you a little drunk or very drunk right now?" "I'm not drunk at all." "You are refusing to answer. All I want to know is if you were very drunk or just a bit drunk."

​@@KM-be2ge how were any of his questions unreasonable? He asked very simple, straightforward questions. Whether or not the director had the answer on hand is of no fault of Gaetz's. He clearly avoided the questions because he either knew the answer and didn't want to answer for fear of looking incompetent or he genuinely didn't know and didn't want to outright admit it for the aforementioned reason.

Would be nice if there was a bill introduced and passed that states that any witness appearing before Congress representing a federal agency whom does not answer yes/no questions loses 1% of funding for the represented agency for each question not answered, with no maximum limit of lost funding. Then there will be actual oversight or the agencies will effectively sunset themselves out of existence.

Defund them all

The ATFs first line of defense is the removal of video evidence.

Abolish the atf and use their budget to care for the homeless.

When their first word is "respectfully" you know what follows next is a lie.

I know the dealer. Great guy; lives down the road from me. It’s true, and it’s a shame. Took his business from him.

This ATF director embodies everything wrong with our government and I am so happy to see him getting raked over the coals. He continuously is evasive and refuses to give direct answers even to simplest and most basic questions.

This just takes me back to the times when I was the Physical Security NCO in the Army. If I was as incompetent as the ATF, I would have been fired a long time ago.

What gets me is how many of these people refuse to tell the truth over fear of losing their jobs. You know they're covering their butts when they stumble through every single response.
