Matt Berninger is currently on a class of his own amongst modern rock singers. His band is the best indie band out there and his solo album is a masterpiece.

@@columbus.6114 I was skeptical as well. Matt does not write the music, he writes the lyrics and the lyrics rythm. But I agree that he delivered gracefully.

I was looking forward to it, wasn't sceptical at all. It's a great album - a fitting sound for the autumn of 2020.

Matt and The National have been my favourite for years! First big concert I ever went to I took the bus for 12 hours, alone, to Brussels, to see The National. ❤️
What a gorgeous song. I had never heard of Matt Berninger before but am glad I have now, his voice is sublime.

Check out The National. It’s his band. Many good albums. Boxer is a fan fav but I’m partial to Trouble Will Find Me, I am Easy to Find, and Sleep Well Beast. High Violet is also great. You know what? Listen to everything.

@@nephilim_shawn Thank you for the heads up! I have a feeling that Spotify is going to get a hammering today. Had a quick look on Wiki and saw how long The National have been around for - it is always fantastic to find such a well established band that I genuinely had no idea of beforehand. Really appreciate your suggestions, am going to give them a go first.

@@iswims While some may not like it, and that's fine. People have different tastes for art. But personally anyone who I got to listen to where is her mind, which I feel is their best work, they all were hooked. Then eventually had every The Nation album on their phone. Hell my dad's favorite song is Cherry Tree. The National's body of work has styles for everyone. How they're not massively famous is beyond me. But I don't think Matt is the type to really care about that so neither do I. But I Am Easy to Find is a masterpiece, right up there with Sargent Peppers, Dark Side of the Moon, and White Album in my opinion. I think it's on par with In Rainbows from Radiohead, maybe a bit better. But it's hard to compare any band with The National and Radiohead. Both bands evolve naturally artistically with each album, Radiohead has just been around longer.

This song was surprisingly good. I listened to it more than once, which I usually don’t do on these clips. I might even check this out on my Apple Music.
I really liked this. Great storytelling, and he had a Bob Geldof sound to his voice.

Good catch! It's definitely live because the album version sounds nothing like it. It could be given there was no audience present it is a version edited from multiple takes, which is interesting.

If you thought the National wasn't sad and boring enough... damn, can someone please get this successful, privileged white yuppie some anti-depressants? 15+ years of indie success and the dude still mopes around like his cat just got ran over. He's never going to be Nick Cave, not as interesting ,charismatic or talented. He just need to accept it and spare us from his boring mopey yuppie rock
