@@xxblade.2272 You usually get points based on your placing in an event. First place in an event gets 10, 2nd gets 9 etc. While Mateusz was able to win 4 events, he only got 3 pts in the deadlift. Meanwhile Thor won 2 events but was still able to place top 2 or top 3 in ones he didnt win, so he had just enough pts to win the whole competition.

If that was a rule Thor would benefit too. He'd have a second wsm title. He won 3 events in the 2014 final compared to Big Z 2 event wins. But he fucked up badly on the squat. So does he deserve to win? Ofc not. The strongest man places near the top on every event. Thor won two events, on the medley he placed 4 seconds behind Mateusz. Then went for the world record on the cyr dumbbell instead of matching Mateusz. So two events that could've ended differently right there. Mateusz is an absolute beast but the strongest man in the world doesn't come 8th in the deadlift, I'm sorry but no.

Mateusz who finished in the 2nd place got 22k dollars in the prize money. I think this is really no money for the amount of training, food, travels,.. these strongmen are investing. cesteres I love how people can justify the low pay that the athletes get by saying “he has sponsors”. You mean the same sponsors who are paying the event an exorbitant amount of money to be exclusively sponsored by them? Just because you have supplemental income from sponsorships doesn’t mean that the athlete is being properly compensated. the events make money off of the backs of their competitor, people do not want to see the the G team of strength they want to see the A team with Shaw, Thor etc, that’s why they pay.

It's good money. Enough in my opinion. Say what you want but paying people sometimes tens of millions just because they can run fast and do some gimmicks with a football or punch someone in the face is a ridiculous concept. 22k is a good prize. After all you don't HAVE to do this sport, you can do something else. Obviously if someone wants to pay them twenty times as much out of his own pocket it's fine.

This is beautifull, im polish but when i see my compatriot so strong , when most of polish community was dreaming that one day polish will do a lot in arnold classic and be better than pudzianowski is like amiracle, plus he is so humble working out on his own . We are proud for him , pure steong Angel

I was shocked by Thor's performance here, they really messed up his preparation for this

  • @kooroshrostami27

It's because Thor carried horizontally in his gym and Mateusz carried a much heavier weight than this uphill for preparation. Mateusz is young and relatively poor he is just hungry and motivated you can feel it

Thor’s been focusing on his static lifts, especially deadlift, he’s trying to break the 501kg this year

@The Almighty i usually scoff when Thor complains about shit that he lost, like the Viking Press in '17, but in this even I think he was correct and there's something iffy about the left-hand frame. I know we like the wooden implements and all but it should probably be steel if there are two implements in a head to head. If it's a one off piece and people go one at a time it doesn't matter and could still be wood, but head to head has to be the same implement
