I once heard a voice coach say Rob Thomas doesn't actually sing his lyrics, he bites them. It sounds like an insult but she was a huge fan of him. She says he is effortless in his style and no one can do what he does quite the way he does it. She said she tried it and was out of breath by the end of the song. She was like, "you just can't breathe doing it how he does it."

Me too. 2013 was the second half of my sophomore year in college. I bartended at a bar on campus and this song would play regularly every night; at least twice a week. When it did, everyone in the place from the band geeks to the football players would be singing along to the chorus; good times!

I gotta say, silent acting is some of the best acting you can do, conveying so much with just body language. I don't know who the girl in this video is, but she nails this role. Well done.

its a music video ffs... its just to capture the theme of the song with visuals to get the message across they are not actually playing in the video dedication to Music begins when you are ready to give up on many things in order to play your music like a lot of bands did in the past. I personally have nothing against these guys but their lyrics are pretty much replacable with the most bands singing about relationships and personalitys of women or men just think they are overproduced would love to hear some stuff from before they have become famous

The first time I heard this song, I was coming up from the basement with a basket full of clean laundry. Alexa had been playing Match Box 20 for me, all day. When I was coming up the stairs, Rob was singing the chorus. I laughed so hard I had to concentrate to lean forward. If I straighten up, the laundry and I would have fallen down the stairs!! Once I got to the kitchen, I asked Alexa to play it again. That was awesome!! ❤️🎵

We kind of thought you’d set the drums on fire and you’d do it once. Paul is literally, physically playing these drums while they’re blazing up. And then they’re like, “We need to do it again to get another shot.” We wound up doing it maybe four different times, and each time Paul’s getting redder and redder and he’s literally emanating heat from himself. That was kind of scary. And the part where people got hurt the most was, oddly enough, when they were throwing the albums. Those little f-ers are thin and sharp!

This makes twenty years since Mad Season came out and I love this album so much. This is one of my favorite albums from Matchbox Twenty of all times and they sure know how to play their instruments.

I just saw MB20 THIS year, 2023, and it was a beautiful trip of great music and full 90s nostalgia!! If you get the chance to see em live- DO IT!!! THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL AND DID ALL THE CLASSICS🙌🎶

Nah I think the director was having a field day with it, you can get good angles and clear footage like that without it being carefully planned out. Plus with her throwing stuff at the band and setting off firecrackers and what not, there’s no way they could allow here to do that for safety reasons unless of course it was planned out.

Did you binge everything? MB20 is one of the best band ever! Their solo projects are good too! You want to dig deep? Look for Tabitha’s Secret…Rob and a few of they guys were this band before MB20! But the MatchBox catalog has a song for every mood! I hope you enjoyed your new find (last year😂)

No. It was real. In an interview they gave in 2013, they talk about how everyone ended up getting hurt while filming this. Kyle cut his finger so bad on a broken record, that EMS had to be called. Paul's hair caught on fire, but he kept on going. It's actually a pretty funny story to hear them tell it.

yeah it does. But I originally had heard the song on the radio. B100 was the station I think. Back when B100 actually played good music like this, The Offspring, Green Day, All American Rejects, and other bands like that including a few good songs that were rock by Avril Lavigne. Radio has gone to shit in the past few years. Only station I listen to now is Rock108 out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
