This, to date, is still my all time favorite song of theirs to witness live. I’ve seen them multiple times in concert and, by the end of this song, the crowd is just spent! You can’t help but sing along with Rob and, as the song builds, the pressure builds until the band blows the roof off!! I’m 58 and still love this song as much as I did when it came out. I sang this to my daughter when she was very young. I know one day she'll grow up and won't have my last name anymore. She'll always be my baby. It's amazing how powerful a song is to shed so many tears. I love it.

I can’t find a single flaw in this song. Heard it on a playlist by accident and have listened to it at least 30 times this week. Where did great songwriters and solid, melodic, lyrically passionate songs like this go??

Many years later: I keep coming back to my favorite part of this song..."Some things in this world, man they don't make sense -- some things you don't need until they leave you -- then they're things that you miss." Because it has proven to be true in my life.

This band is so good. all their songs are unique. you have great taste in music if you listen to them.

Judging by the fact that this song has less than 3M views for 13 years posted here in yt, I can say that this is severely underrated and underappreciated..

I've got them in a first place tie with AeroSmith as the greatest band ever, due to their having 7 of the greatest 100 songs ever recorded. Props to Rob Thomas, one of the top 5 vocal talents of all time. Their work snuck by the masses while being released, but 10 and 20 years later these mb20 songs are obviously enduring classics that move the listener as only the truly great songs do. And the chief litmus test, they become more loved with repetition rather than the opposite.

They were huge in the 90s. Yourself or Someone Like You is at the top of my favorite albums from the 90s along with No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom. Every song on Yourself or Someone Like You should have been a hit. They were all so good. This is still my go to album when I need to get in that time machine back to the 90s.

My love for match box twenty band runs deep .... My first induction came from my best aunt and uncle a father figure and mother figure in my life. Watching them show us there dvd of there concert and jamming out while they told us while it played on TV for us and my mother jamming as well to it sent waves through me till this day I jam and remember that day best music I ever heard till this day and beat memories ever!!!!

You know this is from the 90s right? They were absolutely HUGE back in the day. However, they do still tour together which is pretty incredible considering most bands break up after a couple records.

I love how they're not all emo-looking and grungy. I mean, there's nothing wrong with long hair or grunge, but it's become such a stereotype for music that isn't hiphop. It's just nice to see someone that's not in the stereotype and doing very well (:

I never thought of them as being a grunge type band. Even though they're from that Era. Style wise I think they could have been popular in the 70s or 80s too.

I fell in love with Matchbox Twenty with their first CD and I had a 11 year old daughter at the time and she absolutely fell in love with them too so her very first concert. I took her and her best friend day. We still talk about what a great concert they put on! She was over the moon that her first concert was Matchbox Twenty. we both still listen to them and adore them. But I agree with you this song and hits me in that place where music should hit you if it’s good and this one is great!!! Love this version!❤

They're all listening to congo crap and bongo beat noise disturbances that got labeled as music when they are more sound weapons than anything else. This is music. But people don't listen to music or like talent anymore. They are white artists too, and America has been reprogrammed to hate white people for no reason at all to appease SJWs and PC bullshit of this clown world we now live in. The world's gone mad but doesn't even know it. I wish we didn't have to go back to the 90's and early to mid 2000's to be able to still listen to music or find it. It'd be nice if there were new things that didn't all sound like vocoder Justin Bieber bongo rap crap, but there isn't any new music anymore. Just new noises no one who likes real music wants to listen to.
