I think the one thing Ilia does best is "improving fight to fight", his defense in this fight was night and day compared to his last fights, his striking in ufc is night and day compared to his fights outside the ufc. Every single time he's changing, improving, combining things better. That can only happen if you take someone talented, put him through a good camp and sorround him with good people who tell him the right things. Ilias boxing is so crisp in terms of offense. I'm not expecting a roster full of lomachenkos and gervontas, but as far as MMA goes, this is it. Just great punching mechanics. The way he switches between the right and left hook to the body and head is fundamentals taking to the highest level, just like when the threw and connected that short left hook after the overhand, when he dropped emmet. Beautiful way to sneak that shot on the inside. It's interesting how good a lot of these guys at FW are at throwing hands. Volk, Max, Ilia, Arnold, just beautiful stuff.

Seeing the speed of his improvements makes me think we still haven’t even seen his ceiling yet. He’s only 26, still plenty of time to improve. That’s a scary thought seeing how good he’s looked already. Incredibly technical yet still has devastating power. Was really impressed by his boxing defense but want to see him against someone who uses kicks more before he gets a title shot

Tbh this was not what Ilia had projected during press confs but it went better than I had expected. I had expected a brawl where he may have gotten rocked. He was never in danger, he delivered a great boxing performance and only lacked some cardio to finish with a submission at the end. As expected Emmet was harder than anybody he had faced previously which would mean, Ilia is ready to at least try to go for the title. I would love to see him fight in Spain. Wth I would pay to see it live.🎉
