After having watched several magnificent performances on eagle claw Kung Fu, I believed I had seen the best of it, until this shaolin master did his presentation, he took up the eagle claw form to its purest martial expression with a refined art. Superb!!!

I am a kenpoist but u live observing other martial arts as I believe they can help you grow and expand and I just love the fluidity of movements in Kung Fu and the transition between those stances I think only true martial artist can appreciate such a performance like this because of it's technique

very smooth, amazing body balance between fluid movement and terrific strength. You can see how his hands claws appear like he is holding weapons even though it's just his hands.

@vampire9753 Lots of practice. Try bending your knees in a horse stance to a 90 degree angle, and test it by resting a staff across them for one or two minutes, then repeat. It helps all stances. :)

There are a few useful tidbits… but really, this is where it becomes art. Someone who practiced this almost exclusively might be able to adapt it for fighting. Unless you’re fighting a big dumb MMA kickboxer, then you pretend to be one as well until the elbow to the face and the eagle claw strikes to the eyes, throat, and groin remind him this ain’t sparring. Also, note his horrible kick that doesn’t flow well with the rest of the form - it is a dead giveaway that he is a powerful sanda kicker, aligned with the current Shaolin curriculum. The form is a great exercise for multiple attackers.

yes i know, @1:10 his head is lower than a knees ! He is doing full leg stretches flat like it's a normal transition position. But then it's a shaolin monk, this is not someone doing martial arts, it's a martial art becoming a person.

this is not real Shaolin eagle claw, what is tought in the Shaolin temple. When this guy performing the claw with 3 fingers, that is not the real eagle claw. This type of claw was made by a movie star. Who is in real an eagle claw expert. But don't know why he don't show real eagle claw in movies. Pity to see, that they show modern wu-shu. Instead of the real Shaolin kung-fu. That is different from wu-shu.

There is three fingers eagle claw it's from the south. Five fingers eagle claw is from the north. Today wushu eagle claw is from the Chinese government design for sport and mostly not meant for actual combat application.

@@topman749 you're a fool, you could train your body 10 years doing nothing else and you would not have acquired the strength, flexibility and balance he has. And only people who had zero martial art experience won't respect this, this guy could rip you to pieces and still look like dancing doing it, you fool.

It's actually more difficult. His stance is the lowest bones would alow (he is not limited by tendons or muscle like normal people), and ample movment require far more body coordination and balance than short movements.

shut up and stop complaining about what is real or not, what is effective or what is not. Can you do this? Maybe your answer is no! This man is as real as it gets and he trained to gain skill and strength. And I think guns are made to protect not to harm.

You're right. I think anybody who practiced any martial arts will recognize the terrific skills that underly these graceful and fully coordinated movements. As someone who trained TKD, I know just from seeing the control and balance this monk has gracefully extended his kick leg and retracting it that he was tremendous power and control in his legs. The fools on youtube don't know as much. They're like somebody who can't read nor write and see someone writing and laugh at it "what's this wiggling a tip on paper".

Basically what he demonstrated cannot be done without tremendous usable (not weight lifting) body strength, body coordination and balance as well as mind control. You do not want to mess with someone who has gained such a level of physical skills.
