TAKE YOU AWAY FROM THE CARE OF THE DAY FOR AN HOUR OR TWO AT BEST ..... DANG! SO MANY CRITICS ... BE ADVISED THIS MOVIE IS NOT HISTORICAL ... Absolutely anything in which the extraordinary Ian Richardson appeared was worth viewing and this lovely production is no exception to that rule. Also delightful to see supporting turns by both Nick Brimble and Nickolas Grace, each of whom appeared to great effect with Mr. Richardson in the House of Cards trilogy. Thank you so much for posting!

Interesting to a point, but the hallmarks of a TV movie begin to add up : Dancing around a fire on a slope never happened in real life ; The two lads conversing while their pursuers can be seen behind them is to laugh at ! Interesting story line. Twisting tales. Child that was loved most caused the most problems, limited love from a parent. Sad that. There is lesson to be learnt from this move. Love is universal and unlimited, not just for one child.

Wow, I'd never heard of this one -- so, thanks for posting, even though the translation from VHS to You Tube isn't exactly HD. A pity that "Bonnie Prince Charlie" proved so unworthy of the fealty of many good Scots. And Capt. Teach probably wasn't the bloated, half-mad coward he's portrayed as, here. ...I'll have to read the book some time, the movies are quite different from each other.

A fun romp, but oh the historical inaccuracies. Given Jamie fought in the '45 and Henry's son is still preteen, the end can't be later than 1760ish . . . the American action would have been in the middle of the French and Indian Wars (not a great time to roam the Adirondacks). My favorite was going from NYC to CANANDAIGUA to the Adirondacks . . . Canandaigua is over 250 miles to the west and, well, didn't exist until after the Revolution except as a Seneca village. That's quite a trip in time and space.

Fair enough, rushing off to rally round Bonnie Prince Charlie ( in what was ultimately a vain adventure ) but surely Michael could have spared a wee minute and given the lassie the rodgering she was so desperately needing, or at the very least have given his tadger a cleaning in respect to the Jacobite leader he was so keen to join ? What about the stench, in what was summer, and the attendant insects and midges surely following Michael as he wended his way ?
