Massive Plant Conservation Center In Taiwan 🇹🇼 | Orchids | Begonias | Cryopreservation | Care tips!
Dear plant lovers,
Welcome back to Dr. Cecilia Koo Botanic Conservation Center, a sprawling 5,000 hectare “Noah’s ark” for plants. This asylum for tropical and subtropical plants is located in the picturesque PingDong county in Southern Taiwan. With an ambitious goal of housing a staggering 40,000 targeted species, this facility is on the way to become the largest shelter for the plant kingdom on Earth by year 2027.
With expertise in Orchids, Begonias, and Gesneriads, Mr Chen will lead us on this journey, expertly sharing care tips and addressing challenges in conservation.
Step into the cool room, where the vibrant subtropical wonders like begonias and gesneriads thrive. Witness the ingenious tank setup that propels plant growth and care efficiency to new heights.
Discover the basics and the compelling "why" behind the innovative technique of plant DNA cryopreservation.
Your jaw will be on the floor when we tour the Begonia greenhouse - a sanctuary boasting over a thousand exquisite begonias. Mr Chen explains why begonias take the forefront in conservation efforts, while revealing their astonishing variety and unexpected contributions to humanity. And don't miss out on valuable tips for nurturing begonias to perfection.
In the Orchid greenhouse, we were rewarded with rare glimpse of endangered orchids and their tragic back stories. Witness the beauty of these orchids and hear uplifting tales of successful conservation endeavors. We took a moment to explore the mysterious and siniseter features hidden within some orchid flowers.
Mr. Chen sheds light on the challenges we face in conservation and presents inspiring solutions. Remember, each of us holds the power to make a meaningful impact in the world of plant conservation. From today onwards, embrace your roles in preserving the beauty and vitality of our planet's botanical treasures.

Another informative topic. It's sad to see so much destruction in our world. What's worst is that they are cause by us humans. I hope more people are taking interest in conservation of our planet. Two of the local plant groups I'm in Facebook are into conservation. One is preserving native trees and another one is sharing ideas how to preserve the local pitcher plants and hope the government joins in the effort. Maybe one day they'll have better plans will be able to talk to the government about it. There's one island in particular where pitcher plants are thriving but it was in a mining site. Hopefully people will learn how important all these flora and fauna is to our planet.

The conservation and rewilding efforts are amazing. If only there are more conservation efforts in SEAsia, like here in the Philippines, we are one of the mega-biodiverse countries, but the desctruction of forests and reefs are pretty alarming.

There are many conservation organisations, if one looks for them. With purchasing Forest Stewardship Council certified products, one can also be assured that those products have been sourced from responsibility managed forests and not contributing to deforestation.

@@onlyplantsover there i know that's why i so wanted to see you do a video before you leave 😢
Hi sir, can I check my monstera albo had a full white leaf and now it is browning off and I guess it will continue to brown off fully. Should I prune away the white leave till the stalk head or I just leave it be ? The next leaf coming out is quite variegated. So I think no need to cut the stem area. This white leaf is currently the top leaf of the plant
@onlyplants
11 ай бұрын
I would adjust the care because the white leaf should not brown off so fast. But you can keep the leaf on. The plant actually cannibalizes its of dying leaf to take in the sugar for the plant
@raymondlim437

@onlyplants thanks for the prompt reply. Always watched your videos for learning. The new leaf is about 1 month old before it starts to show signs of browning. Now it is getting worse. It is the top leaf and there is signs of another top leaf growing.. my worried is that the whole leaf will eventually brown off and was wondering if I should cut on the sub-stalk connecting the leaf and the main stem to provide the brown to spread to the main stem ?
15:15 Lets hope so
