Exotic Plant Cafe In Taiwan | Outdoors, Indoors, and Pallidarium | Care Tips Spilled | Vittaria Cafe
Dear plant lovers,
Welcome to an extraordinary plant cafe in Taiwan - where rare and exotic plants are painstakingly cultivated indoors, outdoors, and in a pallidarium. Our knowledgable guide, Alvin has unparalleled background, experience, and passion in botany and horticulture. We look at subtropical plants that live all year round outdoors in the elements, zooming in on some of the species while discussing care methods.
Then we move indoors to admire difficult-to-grow exotic plants, including tropicals, that seem to thrive in completely manmade and challenging environments. Alvin left no stone unturned when sharing care tips for some of these plants. Finally, we zoom through an impressive pallidarium in the basement of the cafe. There are tons of plants never featured before on the channel, as well as hacks for growing these plants in such unique environments.

Wow. This is otherworldly experience (at least to me). Couldn't believe it took me this long to see this content. Loved everything in it. All the plants look so unreal! They're all happy just like Alvin 😊. Also love how Alvin confidently mentioned our country for several times 🇵🇭 Same feeling about the Adiantum looking healthy and pretty INSIDE. The plants just acclimated perfectly where they are as if they were just thrown there and decided to live on their own. I want what they have! ❤❤❤

@@alvinyh Hello!!! Thanks for blessing me with your presence! 🙏Yes, I truly appreciate our own and appreciate the ones that have been hybridized/mutated/TC-d by our neighboring countries which make them look even more gorgeous. There are times that it would take awhile before I get myself to believe that the original form came from us! Btw, would love to own one of your hybrids and hopefully meet "Alvin's Revenge" someday 😊 Be happy always! 💚💚💚

So beautiful and interesting. I enjoyed the many plants never seen here in NYC or even the US as a whole. I had no idea there were tropical Rhododendrons. Since those tropical Rhododendron got their own name ‘Vireya’ that may make you unbeknownst of it. They were very popular during the UK Victoria Era among aristocrats in their glass greenhouse.

6:20 that fern _Pteris cretica_ has a Latin name that means “Cretan” or “from Crete”, which is a Greek Mediterranean Island. So even if it’s warm in the Mediterranean summers, it’s not exactly tropical. They’d probably grow well in Taiwan though.

Ive not heard of snake issues mentioned, but this is a very urban town I think snakes might find it challenging to live here. But in more rural areas I can imagine there might be

The cafe is located in the city downtown (just nearby the luxury house area of Taoyuan) without any vegetation around, the possibility of snake issue is very very slow right here

Hahahha the fried Begonia fenicis is a dish by the aborigine on Lanyu(an outlying island of Taiwan which both biological and cultural closely related to the Batanes of your country), however the Begonia acetosa mentioned in the video is from Brazil

Now that he said it, it makes lots of sense considering that maidenhairs love growing on moist rocks and limestone. I’ve one potted in peat + perlite though and it’s been doing very well for years so I guess these plants are flexible.
