Grow Beautiful Platycerium FAST - Master Care Tips By Taiwanese Expert @shijak0526
In the last episode, we toured the mind-blowing rare platyceriums of master collector Huang Shi Jie in Taiwan. We discussed their curious origins, trends, and market demand. In this episode, we will deep dive into advanced and expert platycerium care, shared by the master himself. Admittedly, most of us will never be able to attain this high level of care, but we will walk out of this with a better understanding of platycerium care, so we can inch closer towards healthier and happier platyceriums. Some of the techniques shown here are also applicable to other types of houseplants, so I will pay close attention and take down notes.

Haha he can probably do it blindfolded
Great video, great info, with good conditions indoors i feel like if you run lights on/off 18/6 or 20/4 u wouldn’t have to water as much and its still possible to achieve similar results (save on ligh bill or if youre a busy person)
Great knowledge 👏. Helped me a lot to grow plycerium bigbum.

Thanks Sean. Great vid, again. Ivejust moved from Jakarta to Queensland and there are placyteriums EVERYWHERE! This must be the home of the placyterium, they grow on nearly every tree.

Haha yes some are endemic to Australia, and they have so much appreciation for platyceriums there
Oh, Alvin is here too! Nice to see pleasant faces 😊 Did he come up with those care tips on his own from experience or learned from someone else and altered some processes such as the red lighting special? 😊 Those propagations that was pulled out in a box are soooo cute! 🤩 He's a PRO, NO DOUBT! 🙏

Very interesting video; that guy is very talented . I’m much encouraged to start an indoor platycerium collection. I moved my one staghorn fern inside by a bright window, and it’s already looking much happier.

Had to add a follow up comment. I moved my platy’s to more light and made little fertilizer tea bags and you cannot believe how much better my babies are doing in just one month. 😮 I wanted to thank you again for this video, I learned SO much! Keep up the great work you are doing
First! So excited to go on this journey with you! I don’t have any platyceriums yet, but there might be phlebodium in my future. The care is probably quite different, but I think the look is kinda similar.

Is that cushion moss over the spaghnum moss? I had to demount my staghorn recently because it wasn't doing well with holding water (I had it mounted against wood with spaghnum moss). The ones shown here look really nice! :) You cal tell they're getting taken care of nicely

I believe its just sphagnum moss used. He really gave them royalty treatment in the space that he has.

What is the best humidity level for platycerium ya?
@onlyplants
10 ай бұрын
It depends on the species… I would say 50-80% is the sweet spot for mature platyceriums (but you gotta factor in temperature and air flow too)
My job was just bringing you to meet shijak in this clip 🤣

This is not an easy question to answer as Im not sure the composition of the orchid soil mix you have at hand… but its worth getting moss too its good for so many applications
