All the US trucks in Australia seems to go with a GVM upgrade. Is there a reason that Australians aren't just buying he next larger spec truck? Even a 350/3500 DRW would give you 6,350 kg from the the factory. All 3 manufacturers make trucks up to class 5 (550/5500) and Ford makes class 6 and 7 chassis cabs on their larger truck chassis. My F450 was only about $3,500 more than a comparably equipped F350 SRW. Also a heads up to Ford Super Duty buyers in Australia. Ford recently (some time in 23/24) changed their front axle from the Dana Super 60 (M256) to a smaller (9.25" ring gear) Dana 50 (M235) on every Super Duty below the 450. The biggest issue with the M235 is not that it isn't strong, but that it lacks aftermarket support. At this time I don't believe that there is a selectable locker for the M235. Ram runs a 9.25" ring gear AAM front axle with no issues, but it is based on the GM Corporate 14 bolt 9.25/9.5 that has been around a long time and has a lot of aftermarket support.

Thanks for the comments mate! I've got to admit, I'm not completely up to speed with the modification/GVM laws for the American trucks in Australia. Very jealous though of how you guys can mod your trucks, way better than in Australia!

@@MudModsBeers Most states are pretty accommodating here. Usually you hit a headlight or bumper height restriction at some point. My last truck was a 2011 Ram 2500 with an 8" lift on 37x1350x18 Interco M16s. My rear bumper height was 2" under the 32" maximum for HD trucks in Maryland and I considered moving to 40s. Unfortunately it started rusting and since I needed more towing capacity anyway, I went with the big Ford.
