I tried this massage on my 16 year old Lhasa Apso today. His hind legs strength has been deteriorating alarmingly fast of late so he drags them when he walks. Both he and I have been seriously down in the dumps bc of this. Post massage I am already noticing that he is able to rise to his feet way more easily!! Will continue to do this for my little man everyday. You sir are an ANGEL for posting this video. You just acquired two big fans here. Liked and subscribed

@emilymazzo my baby died Feb 19th. It wasn't related to his muscle weakness That was actually getting better but unfortunately I had to leave town because my father suddenly died. And I had to leave my pup in the care of my neighbor while I was gone. That turned out to be a fatal mistake. She used Clorox bleach around him.which caused bleach poisoning. I was on my way back from my father's funeral and got the call during my layover in Tokyo that my pup had died. Still unable to process that it happened.

Our 11mt Golden retriever has hip dysplasia, we think generic but he runs and plays constantly with his buddy a 3yr German Shepherd. Our Golden initiates the playing, he doesn't know anything different. We got stairs so he can get on the bed with his buddy. The very mentioned pain meds but he doesn't show any signs of pain, he had so much energy and doesn't stop running and play fighting. I said no, maybe later when he shows signs of pain. We'll start the massaging.

Agree . I had a vet prescribe apoquel to my 5 month old puppy who had mild scratching but rarely doing it anymore . That drug messed hiim up and gave him sores and he started pulling his hair out . The manufacturer say that apoquel IS NOT FOR DOGS UNDER 12 MONTHS . I CHANGED VETS instantly . I finally have him almost back to where he was before apoquel. The manufacturer of Apoquel stopped the study on puppies because too many pups were getting pneumonia and mange from the negative affects of Apoquel. I would not put any dog on it unless it was in horrible shape from sores from biting or scratch. Apple cider vinegar on my pup topically did the trick clearing up the mess Apoquel did .

He's 10 years old and I'm sure age has a big factor in this but I can try any of these inexpensive vet treatments on him for relief. he also gets epsom salt foot soaks, white vinegar foot soaks (yeasty smelling feet) a medicated bath once a week plus keto wipes on his folds and feet when I don't use the other remedies.

  • @VeterinarySecrets

    @VeterinarySecrets

    8 жыл бұрын

Hi, Hip Dysplasia The term dysplasia means abnormal growth, thus hip dysplasia means abnormal growth or development of the hips. Hip dysplasia occurs during a puppy's growing phase, usually a large breed puppy, and essentially refers to a poor fit of "ball and socket" nature of the hip. The normal hip consists of femoral head, which is round like a ball and connects the femur to the pelvis; the acetabulum, which is the socket of the pelvis; and the fibrous joint capsule and lubricating fluid that make up the joint. The bones (femoral head and acetabulum) are coated with smooth cartilage so that motion is nearly frictionless and the bones glide smoothly across each other's surface. Do not expect a dog with dysplasia (or any other chronically painful condition for that matter) to cry or whine in pain. Instead discomfort is shown with reduced activity, difficulty rising or lying down or going up stairs. A characteristic swivel of the hips is seen from behind and classically stairs are taken in a bunny hop fashion. How Can I Find out if my Dog has Hip Dysplasia? There are two reasons to pursue testing: to explain a dog's discomfort/rear weakness or to screen a dog for breeding purposes. If a dog is not going to be bred and is not in any apparent discomfort, there may be no benefit to looking at the conformation of the bones in a radiograph except possibly to look back at a future time to get a sense for progression of bony changes. The first step in diagnosis is an examination. Your veterinarian will likely extend the dog's hind leg backward to check for pain. (Hip dysplasia causes pain on hip extension.) The dog may be asked to walk around to demonstrate the possible hip swivel. Another test involves having the dog lie on its back with a hind leg perpendicular to the body. As the leg is moved away from perpendicular to the body, a dysplastic hip will generate a pop as the femoral head slips to the center of the acetabulum. This pop, which can be felt if your hand is resting on the hip during the exercise, is called an Ortolani sign. You may hear this term used as hip dysplasia is discussed.

It seems to bring him some comfort. My downstairs neighbor (the dominate male) takes care of him during the day when I'm at work since he retired. He only barks around me and also has the most trouble with his hips/legs on the floor and stairs when I am around. They are going bad but he is an "exaggerater." He's been the greatest dog but probably would have been better if I was more of the apha than his friend. His video could use another like everyone;)

(Make sure you get LEVEL 5000; they also make a less expensive "K9 Glucosamine" which I've never used and can't vouch for.) For faster results, double the dose for the first week. The best price I've found is on eBay: $39.95/32 oz, free shipping & 2 bags of hip and joint treats.

@@VeterinarySecrets He is a german shepherd that has long legs and has had like injuries before on his front legs from jumping too much. But after giving him anti-inflammatory pills he was able to recover, this was about a few years ago. Today he is probably 8 years old, hes a rescue dog, but I understand he is a senior in dog years. I ordered a bunch of tablets that help relieve joint pain online including glycoflex 3. I am hoping to recover him like last time, if I take him to the vet and he would requires surgery I just can't afford it.

My Lexi has just turned six. She is showing signs of problems with walking up the stairs or jumping and we thought it might be hip dysplasia. There is another video you mentioned right before this one. I'm still searching. Thank you for answering :) Have a wonderful day!

My 10 1/2 yr old boxer has been diagnose with hip dysplasia & is suffering. What if the leg & foot are very swollen & he is major pain? Can I still massage gently? He takes 100 mg tramadol 3x per day & 1/2 tab 7.5 mg of Moloxicam. We are having him put to sleep on Tues but I need to make him more comfortable till then. Thanks!

Hi Patty, The swelling is something else- I would be concerned about cancer. Also consider a sedative, your vet can prescribe additional meds - generally with Tramadol and Meloxicam you should have good pain control

He was very bow legged which exasperated things, with a badly torn ligament in the same leg as the dysplasia. We had x-rays done & no cancer! We put Bert to sleep Saturday night ~ I couldn't see him suffer anymore. Thanks for the reply!

Hi,I have a german shepherd 2 months old. My house has got ceramic tiles. The day i got my puppy he could not even stand properly on the tiles. But today it is around 20-25 days since he is living with me. Now he is able to walk properly and slips only when he is running fast. I talked to a reputed vet about it and he said that tiles are definitely not a good thing for large breeds but he also said that There is nothing which can be done about it. Sometimes he bunny hops with his rear legs. Is there really something i should be worried about.P.s in my room where he stays for the most of the time is all covered by carpet. But i cannot keep him confined to one small room only. Please help

Hi, The biggest concern is hip dyplasia- You can read this article here: healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2011/11/03/prevention-of-canine-hip-dysplasia.aspx

Hi , one advice :- do NOT make ur dog run on those tiles. Instead make ur dog run outside somewhere. Also playing find search (like hiding a hair band or any object ) is a good game to play with ur dog at home as it involves less running

I've got a black lab/border collie mix. She's 17 years old going on 18, she has had hip dysplasia for 3-4 years. Yes I know she's quite old, she still eats, and drinks and even plays in her own way. Tonight however, she was whining and whimpering. Struggling to get up, normally it takes her about 30 or so seconds to get up. She was trying to get up to go to the door to use the restroom. She struggled pretty hard. I helped her along, she did bite. So I wrapped my hands and arms with blankets and helped hoist her up. It took some time but we managed to use the restroom and get her back inside for her to sleep. I would love to try this massage with her but she is extremely agitated and it is painful for her. What would you suggest I do to cause as little pain as possible and help ease her hip discomfort?

If it’s affecting her day to day life, where it’s no longer enjoyable for her and she’s just in pain then the most selfless thing to do in anyone’s mind would to be to put her down… she’s 18 years old and has had an amazing life by the sounds of it. It just sounds serious to the point she can’t get up to use the loo.. Ultimately, as the owner of your pup, you are the only person that can make the final decision.

🥺😭 Fuck man…. I really hate my fucking life. My babies sick out of nowhere, we cant play, we cant work, cant train and shes not complaining but me just seeing her hind and understanding somethings wrong NOT being able to help by taking her to a Holistic Vet and getting her to a Chiropractor to start fixing her issue is driving me insane. Balanced Raw Diet, No Vaccines, No Physical Abuse and I have to deal with this while her litter mates are all strong as hell body wise. Lifes never been fucking fair, but I swear some of us get by a lot easier then others… SMFH. God, show your face…
