I can never get over how Light reacts so blankly to his father dying. The whole reason he agreed to use the death note was to keep his father safe, and every time the dad can, possibly, die, he freaks out. But then, when he does, he's emotionless. It's how you know he's in too deep and is a true psychopath. Truly, no actor other than Kubota-kun can express this as well as he did. You can tell that, while he seems sad on the outside, there's no emotion in those eyes. I love this version of the show, as well as everyone who made it a reality.

Best Light ever

Most live action cant perform the "eyes covered with hair" or what they call "emo hair" where the eyes are covered with hair when the mc is doing something badass like anime does, but this guy damn he executes it perfectly.

If everyone thinks about this: this version of light yagami (夜神 月 ライト) that performs in this live action version, is the best version of light. Obviously not intelligence-wise because light in the anime/manga is clearly more intelligent, but I’m not saying this version of light is dumb either, it’s just that he held back his intelligence in the beginning. He still does things like the book storage, killing all FBI agents with a unique method and using misa with psychological persuasion. His use of intelligence in the drama is VERY good. But enough said. Light yagami in the drama is the best light, simply because he was innocent. He was never a bad person and even tried to commit suicide and throw away the death note in the first episode. He even saved his own father using the death note and MISA! it’s obvious this light yagami is more human than the others. Conclusion: Best Light Yagami Ever!

Kubota Masataka is the most decent light yagami of all the live action that has death note I think he manages to catch pretty good lighi yagami \ kira and represents well in what he believed and wanted to do for the world. I love him too much he will always be my perfect yagami light

God, when I watched Death Note drama, I never knew he could be so much like Light and Kira. Because of him I fall for Light again....

I watched the anime in 2013 or 2014, i think? I was only a new anime fan that time. Light is a cruel character but I like him. Yesterday, i finished watching this LA. Kubota Masataka is such a good actor! He did great for portraying Yagami Light!

I love Masataka Kubota's acting. I never noticed he was that nerdy guy from Summer Nude. My first time watching him was in Summer Nude then Death Note. I'm now going to research his other work because this guy is truly amazing.

He's good in Fugitive Boys ( Bokutachi ga yarimashita ) too. The ending breaks my heart though. He's good at acting roles who are shaken up by something (psychological).
