The TV Drama was written by Yoshihiro Izumi. It was directed by Ryuichi Inomata, Ryo Nishimura, and Marie Iwasaki. It aired in 2015 and had 11 episodes. Cast can be found listed below.

Around half of this is Matsuda 🤣🤣🤣. I will definitely watch this drama for Matsuda 😅.

It's definitely worth watching. And yeah, Matsuda is most of the comic relief in the drama, especially his arguements with Aizawa. Matsuda is my favorite character in the anime and also in the drama. I feel like the actor, Goki Maeda, did a great job at portraying him. And this TV drama is actually my favorite live-action adaptation of Death Note. I have links to watch the drama free and legally online, if you're interested. I can post them here. Agreed. The Netflix version was a disaster. The Death Note TV drama is actually really good. My opinion of course, but it is my favorite live-action adaptation of Death Note and I've watched it several times. Worth checking out though, even just to see what you think of it. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, I really liked all four of the Japanese live-action Death Note movies. I just liked the TV drama a little more. The light novel of L: Change the World is really good too.

My friend just introduced me to Deathnote, finished the series, and watched all 3 live action 2007 films. I still haven’t watched this one yet but damn it’s so good!😂

This TV drama is my absolute favorite of the Death Note live-action adaptations. If you're interested in watching it, I can post the links here. It's available online and the site is on is completely free and legal. Also, there's actually four live-action Death Note films. The fourth one is called Light Up the New World. It takes place 10 years after the first movie when six Death Notes fall to the human realm at one time. It's actually really good imo. Matsuda's actor (Sota Aoyama) and Misa's actor (Erika Toda) also reprise their roles in this movie. And it has a really crazy twist at the end of it, too. I have a link to this movie as well if you're interested. It's actually on the same site as the TV drama. The musical is amazing too and available on KZread. Also, highly recommend this as well. The fourth movie is the only one that's not dubbed. Light Up the New World, the TV drama, and the musical are all subbed though.

Much, much better. Actually this TV drama and the Japanese live-action Death Note movies are really good and true to the source material. I really like the movies and this TV drama, but I like the drama the most. It's my favorite live-action adaptation of Death Note. I've watched it more times than I can count, lol. I do like how the TV drama, and the Japanese movies too, were able to make Ryuk and Rem look just like they do in the anime. Yeah, his character design in the Netflix one was different, but I will say this: imo, Willem Dafoe as Ryuk's voice was the only good thing about that version, lol.

That’s the problem, they took too many notes and made the netflix adaptation based on this adaptation, which is why it’s no where near death note

Matsuda is actually my favorite character in both the anime and the TV drama. I also really like Goki Maeda, who played him in the drama, he's honestly one of my favorite actors. And I agree with you, Matsuda in the drama is very faithful to the orginal. He even looks like Matsuda. The TV drama is also my favorite live-action version of Death Note. I don't really think that Matsuda is as stupid as a lot of people say he is though, he's just younger and has less experience than the others. Thanks for watching!

The Death Note TV drama is actually pretty good imo. It's my favorite live-action adaptation of Death Note. I recommend watching it if you're interested.
