I can totally relate to Gilda's experience. I left Philippines because I cannot see the systemic corruption at all levels of government going away and same with the state of safety and security. I wanted to raise my child in a safe and enabling environment and have a better education to compete in global setting. We came early 2000 and I can definitely state that finding job is not that easy but persistence and determination is the key. I totally prepared myself and shed my "title", starting work in Canada as factory worker and with the grace of God I'm now working with the largest employer in Canada. So power on pinoys, if the "Gilda's" can do it we definitely can do it too!

Not having Canadian or US work experience really makes looking for a job like you used to do in the Philippines or elsewhere more challenging. It took a year and dozens of interviews for my husband to get a software engineer position in General Motors. Tiyaga lang talaga at lakas ng loob makipagsabayan sa mga graduates dito at may experience na.

This is great content Ina. It's all about getting to your goal, focusing on that and not settling and you can go beyond what you see and re-focus on your goal. Focusing on your children is a great goal! Don't forget your faith- great lesson!

I hope that your viewers can see the positive message of this interview. The corruption in the Philippines has been a given ever since the father was the president. The persistence for something better should be a spark that can motivate us not to settle and find something better.

Dami shortcomings ang Phil govt in all aspects of uplifting lives for all Pilipinos. Hindi na disiplina ang lahat ng govt agencies. Walang mission ang bawat sangay ng gobierno. Maski Sino ang umupo sa Palasyo Hindi pa rin mababago ang buhay ng Pilipinos. Maski maglagay ng “time capsule” for 100 years nagpapa tunay ang asenso ng buhay ng lahat.

Lahat ng bansa may problema….lahat ng bansa may corruption. Comparing corruption 20yrs ago. Malayo na tayo narating ngayon in terms of preventing it. Marami na systems in place still much has to be done. Anyway we are still learning more 100years old palang republic natin. Yon mga bansa pinupuntahan niyo nasa 300yrs old na. They have learned their lessons long enough. Still masarap parin mabuhay sa sarili mong bansa kesa bansa ng banyaga.

She is Absolutely correct when she said that Old time Pinoys in Canada faced the same struggles back then as newcomers now.... it's just a different time. Crimes were also always present, only difference is ack then the media didn't report it like they do now, plus there are way more people now also ...it's all relative. Great episode Ate Ina !❤

em really saddened with the current situation here in the country... pinakamalala talaga ang corruption-from the rank and file to top mngt... pagdating sa promotion, palakasan.. despite of work experiences and academics.. so sad!

Corruption is the top 5 reasons that we brought all of my children here in Canada. Di mo masikmura, as a parent you always think of the future of your children.

Importantly it to have a goal why you are moving to another conuntry. For me it was about for my four children especially my Deaf child that she graduated in Rochester Institute of Technology in US through scholarship.

poor filipino people who struggle because of systemic corruption….though i still love going back to my homeland to be with my lovely relatives and relaxing at my hometown living in the country area.. dont let the system put you down…find alternatives instead and thats what we did and found in wealthy and beautiful country canada that gives us better life🇨🇦…pero hindi ko pa rin inalis ang pagmamahal ko sa sariling bansa and thats what we get to enjoy whenever we go on a trip to philiippines because i am entitled to have it and not let the system take that away from me and my family dahil bahagi ng puso ko kahit saan ako makarating is undeniably my beautiful hometown with beautiful people… shout out patolot family living in brgy bagong tubig san luis batangas… you keep me coming back and true enough let me look back and not forget who i really am..❤

That's exactly true. Especially in the Philippine Congress where everyone dips their dirty fingers into the cookie jar. And this is true in almost all agencies of government where the predominant culture seems like "everyone does anyway, why shouldn't I".

Maganda parin Sa Philippines masaya.. Sa Canada mahirap ang buhay kasama Sa hirap ang thick snow. Sa Canada mas maraming homeless like USA.

Watching from Australia. It really makes the Philippines a 3rd world.

I made my fortune in US dahil salaries are higher and taxes are lower. In general outside of big cities, houses, goods and services are cheaper in US. AS OF TODAY, 1 USD = 57 PHP na, samantalang 1 CAD is 41 PHP pa rin. US gained 300K+ jobs in March 2024 while Canada lost jobs, zero gain. US is still the #1 economy in the world!! Many Canadians have moved to the US for work.

Depende yan kung anong sector papasukan mo (at kung alin State) , malala na rin ang joblessness sa US ngayon, puro layoffs tapos dagsa pa mga illegal migrants na umuubos ng taxpayers money. Then again DEPENDE yan, Canada is not much worse than US... Biruin mo may ilang State na ang minimum wage ay $7 pa rin... How can you survive with that? At least in Canada above $16 na ang minimum

Diskarte lang yan kuya. Kung marunong tayo dito sa Pilipinas maayos naman ang pamumuhay. Ang goal malaki kita sa Pinas na kung san mababa ang standard of living. Sa USA mayaman ka pero sa UTANG….Utang bahay 30-35yrs to pay, utang kotse Mercedez BMW, Max Utang Multiple Credit Cards, Shopping Utang sa Outlet, Sale at Branded everything. Then work 2-3 Jobs..Never ending Rat Race..

$1:₱57 pero kung kakain ka sa restaurant 3 times ang presyo mahal sa USA. Isang kain $20-25 plus Vat and 10-20% tip. Sa Pilipinas same order will cost you ₱300-350 only Vat included, tip as you wish not demanded. The American Dream is only a dream its not achievable for most of the people living there.

@@BOYLipad1010 bitin sa Pinas, small portions(bitin) sa Pinas parang kid's meal kaya mura at mostly poor quality unless sa high end restaurants ka kumain. mas mahal ang quality foods like steaks sa pinas dahil imported from US, Australia and other countries. Most of pinoys are doing very well in US with high income, 2nd only to Indian-Americans. Look it up. American Dream is dead for lazy people but for those that work hard, save and invest, American Dream is alive and well.

It takes a lot to move on as a family, kaya in my opinion, corruption din yan 😂
