As a woman approaching 40, I can totally relate to everything that they're saying. Just 2 years ago, I was DREADING turning 40. For me, I think I feared getting older because I equated youth with freedom and fun. For a long time, I felt like my best years were behind me. And let's be honest, the THIRTIES is a rough decade. A lot a growing pains for me. However, my thought has shifted in the last 6 months. I am ready for 40! I understand now that I have not lost ANY FREEDOM. In fact, I'm gaining more of it than I've ever had and I recognize that freedom is multi-faceted. I am loving the woman I have become and look forward to who I will be in the future. My ability to spot BS is a skill!! And my tolerance for nonsense is at an all time low! I'm ready and trust that I have many more years to grow, learn and love myself.

Come on now! I just got here! First, everybody said the 20s drag you, wair until you turn 30! Now I'm 30, and everybody's saying the 30s are gonna drag me too and I gotta wait until 40?? 😭
@robyn220
Жыл бұрын
@@SOULarLioness lol no not necessarily. I’m almost 39. I’d just say the 30s are when you genuinely learn who you are and what life is really about very few people can get that completely in their 20s. Also, when you’re in your 30s, you start to realize that time is limited and decades can fly by even more so the older you get. And once you have kids, you really see how fast time flies. I feel like I just gave birth like two years ago and my daughter is 17 going on 18 right now.! It just puts a lot of things in perspective and my advice to every single human being is to at least try therapy in your 30s because for me it was absolutely life-changing and I have done therapy before but I never was all in for a comfortable enough to be fully open and transparent with them about absolutely everything. You also have to find one that matches well with you. I found one actually younger than me and it just worked. She spoke my language ya know. And she didn’t ever seem judgemental, if anything She would build me up and encourage me to love myself more. And helped me realize a lot of things about some of the fucked up stuff in my past that I never even realized it’s weird because our experiences are our own so we see them from a completely different perspective than everybody else just how it’s easy to judge somebody else’s situation but if you were in the same situation it’s much harder to see clearly. Anyway 30s are great. You just have a ton of growth so at times it’s hard. So far from all the women in my life, I’ve heard that 40 is the best, but I think that might just be because it’s like the last decade before you’re considered “old” lol 😂
This was an amazing interview of not giving a f--k anymore, love and being unapologetic. We live.. we love... we learn. Welcome to our 50's ladies. Life gets better from here. 💗

I'm just so blessed to have witnessed the growth of both of these incredible women. If you're from the NY/NJ/CT area, and you grew up in the 90s-00s, then you recognize Angie Martinez from the airwaves. Angie has been holding it down for decades, with classic interviews and memorable moments. What can we say about Mary J. Blige? Thirty years of constantly bringing out hits and changing the landscape of R&B music, as well as the look of female R&B artists. This interview was enjoyable to watch. Thank you!

This session was #Gold I tell you 🤗 I think Marys best "interviews" are w/ Angie; just seems like there's some sense of "home" or comfortability that is such an ease on her. This felt so genuine & open but protected & maybe even a bit sacred 💜 .. well too me anyway 🤷🏽♀️ I love the stages of growth we've seen both of them evolve through & how seamlessly (even tho we know it wasn't) they've ascended. Inspiration is an injustice for the both of them, especially Mary since her life was literally always plastered up across the world too be judged, prodded & critiqued. This was bomb 💪🏽💯

I love this, ladies! Thank you!🥰 My pain of change is happening @ 59 yrs old. Keep growing and sharing! God got you! You are definitely shining your light! Thank you so much!❣
I am so PROUD of Mary's growth. She has come a long way!
Choosing yourself is the greatest act of rebellions. It feels so wrong…yet it is great source of freedom
I love their friendship/sistahood!! ❤️
OMG! That 1st photo of the two of you almost made me cry 😢. My how time flies...
6:10 it’s like when your alive but your not really living. A 9-5 mon-fri job has most people feeling like the walking dead. When you can hardly remember the last time you felt free or childlike or happy even. I’ve been there and I’m only 27 (in sept). Life has no value if we don’t go within ourselves and find the joys, if we don’t gaze at the sun and feel the bliss that is the blessings of life and living. A huge thing that helped me is exactly like they said, knowing that time in precious and life is precious, who care if your legs jiggle when you dance don’t let that stop you from dancing. Too often do we waste or lives. Worrying. Waiting. Just do it, go live and be happy with those who love you no matter what they look like. I feel like death to the ego is the biggest way to have a fulfilling life
If we want to continue to grow, we must embrace: "The pain of change" and "Get out of our own way". Thank you, for an empowering interview ❤ #TRANSITION

I've been such a loyal fan of these two magnificent women! From style, grit, talent, and influence, it's beautiful to see their friendship evolve and their admiration for one another grow. They've been a presence in the lives of my closest sister-friends and I and I swear, I hope to see them do what they do best in person one day! ❤
I really loved this and your friendship. Mary is my sister in my head from 1992. I’ve grown up right along side her and I’m so blessed for her enduring inspiration. God bless you both

Agreed mary has been through so much and still came out on top she's incomparable!!!
Growing up listening to Mary ,watching her humble beginnings from being a backup singer for Jeff Red,Father M.C,and then finally her breakthrough into the R&B scene in 1992 is remarkable‼️ I literally would cry if we lost a gem like MARY‼️ 🏆👉🏽👩🏽🗣🎵🎶💪🏽

Me too honey
This woman is my spirit animal. I remember when her first video premiered. I have been in awe of her ever since. I reacted how people reacted to MJ when he was on stage when I saw her and Jay z years ago. She has sang the soundtrack to my life. Thank you for this interview. I always learn more about her
This is a new Mary, I’ve neverrrr seen! I loveeeeee THIS!
NOT SELFISH!!!!! SELF-FULL!!!! ♥️♥️♥️ This was beautiful to witness; feel like I’ve grown up with these women 🥹
Got goosebumps watching this... Two ICONS.. I've grown up with these women who are family In my mind.. I'm in my 40s so mentally I'm in the same place as they are.. I live in gratitude. I will shed a tear when things are amazing not because I'm sad but because I'm recognizing the beauty of the moment.. I'm so amazed by God's goodness.. And when beautiful things happen I praise and stay there.. I don't let it happen and then just move on.. I live in it. 😂😂😂 Mary and Ang are sisters tho.. "Are my glasses crooked?" Thats sister shit right there. Thank you so much Angie Mar and MJB for this... Reminder to all my sisters.. We HAVE NOT seen our best days yet. ❤️
I loved when they spoke about aging. Though Mary is 51, I saw her live in VA on a HUMID summer day in 2019 and she performs better than girls half her age! She left it all on the stage, the best live performance I’ve seen thus far. Love her so much 💕

I am 23 and I am a big Mary fan I am so proud of everything she is and just seeing her be happy and get the things she deserves teaches me life does not get boring the older you get
I enjoyed how Mary spoke about the beginning of her music career and how she wasn’t chasing fame like everyone is nowadays. She was doing it for a new life for her. Those intentions made her the beautiful soul and Artist she is 🙏🏽
Mary is my sister in my head💜. I love Angie too, but my first time hearing Mary on the radio I was 11 years old. I fell in love with all of her songs, her style, her swag, and her rawness, and not because she is from NY like me, but because I saw someone on TV who looks like me.
The Capricorn in us is just so different. Really top tier
