Ashanti I Angie Martinez IRL Podcast

With her first record deal at 14 and her first album at 21, the musical chemistry between Ashanti and Irv Gotti changed the sound of R&B and cemented Murder Inc in music history. But the public response surrounding Irv’s episode of Drink Champs and The Murder Inc Documentary on BET has brought that relationship back into the public eye.
On In Real Life with Angie Martinez, Ashanti responds with grace, detailing her version of the stories shared, revealing the lessons learned, and the impact it all had on her career.

When u don't even want revenge or bad feelings . u just want him to move on 🏳️..be happy..be great just without u..holding onto u..that man showed who he was on drink champs.. ego tripping?? Irv need to let her go forward into her own independence. They did great together..#1 projects for several CONSISTENT SUMMERS..but she literally doesn't owe Murda inc or irv Gotti anything (anymore). She made them millions and hes been making money off her publishings/ masters for over 20 yrs..I've been wit a "irv Gotti" and it's exhausting becuz the "u owe ME/ I made u" part. He has to let it go and let that girl be great.. make another ASHANTI...if he can smh. I like Ashanti as a person and she's definitely professional and EARNED her place in hip hop/r&b history. ALOT of those early 2000s singers and female artist haven't lasted as long as she has.

I notice that also especially when she stepped back out with Nelly, Irv wanted him dead, he threatened Nelly to keep her in line that why they were always denying being together, she was slick with Nelly when this interview happen look how she light up whenever she talk about him and look what she said about her personal life they usually ask if she dating Angie didn't ask that but Ashanti said she going to focus on her personal life get married, have kids, slow down, then she pop out with Nelly publicly, she finally admitting to really dating Nelly now she claiming all out right, wearing his chain, his shirt, Irv told her to go to Derrty Ent, on her live recently she had a Derrty Ent hoodie I remember this interview and died laughing, and said she with Derrty Ent, you told her to go, she went.😂😂

People forget how commercially successful Ashanti was back then: - World Record for Fastest/Biggest Debut Album for a Female Artist (Billboard and Guinness World Record) - "Foolish" went #1 for 11 weeks and one of the greatest selling songs of all time - 1st solo artist in history to have 2 top spots on Billboard Hot 100 - 1st solo artist in history to have 3 top spots on the Billboard Hot 100 - The World's top selling female artist of 2002 - Billboard Woman of the Year 2002 - 4 #1 Hits on the Billboard Hot 100 (including the songs that Jennifer Lopez stole from and tried to take credit for due to Irv Gotti evil politics) - A profusion of awards including many Bilboard, American Music Awards and a Grammy Etc Ashanti could've continued to have global succes, but the music industry did her wrong plus the federal government when they had investigated Irv Gotti and Murda Inc. Ashanti should've had global stardom longevity like Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Britney Spears for the 2000s decade. But Ashanti's first year in the music industry was enough and many artists have not accomplished what she did in their whole career. Funfact: Ashanti was supposed to be a 90s Pop star and was supposed to rival Brandy, Britney Spears and many teenage Pop stars, but she didn't want to be a teenage Pop star and want from label to label. I think she was signed to Bad Boys with Diddy. She also had a full ride scholarship to the prestigious Ivy League Princeton University 😲😲😲 Nonetheless Ashanti is a legend.

But two people can have two different experiences and if they weren’t in a committed relationship for her it was just a situation and for him she was his property. I feel like people can’t fathom that a woman would be able to move like this and a man could be this bitter and upset. Ashanti is so classy and I love that she responded in her own time and own way. I pray she taps into it and creates an epic album, wins Grammys and goes on tour.

Even scarier when that person has the ability to effect your 💰. She has handled this entire situation like a consummate professional.
