You hit on exactly what made this song so special. At the time, nobody was layering back up vocals the way Marvin was. He used 7 tracks to essentially harmonize with himself - (that's Marvin in every octive). If you ever have 40 minutes to kill, you should really listen to the entire I Want You album on the best headphones or speakers you have access to. As far as reactions, "After the Dance" was the other big single off the album and another masterpiece.

You have discovered our music! I love to watch the faces of those who don't know the era. ISN'T IT WONDERFUL! MANY great memories for me. If you try the Temptations, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson, The Spinners, etc. A lot of these artists wrote their own music! Thank you for your channel. I can see that you are digging it! God Bless!

This song by far is the greatest song of all Marvin Gaye hits to me....because it says something to everyone who has been in a relationship ...That it feels soooooo wonderful to have someone who wants you just like you want them.....is absolutely the ultimate feeling...The arrangement and harmony with that bass line is excellent ....hands down the greatest song by Marvin..
