hasn’t Disney been putting out 2-3 MCU movies every year for like 10 years already?
No one is purchasing “Wish” merch, but people STILL buy “Cinderella”merch to this day. A movie done with quality will pay out -even if it doesn’t do awesome at the box office-under the Disney machine you will still be able to make money off of that IP 10-20 years if you make the film good, memorable, and magical.

Yeah but you missed the point that MCU Spider-Man movies are still being done by Sony. Marvel doesn't really have that much input on what they're doing, direction wise. Production wise, it's more of an outline on where the stories are going. Remember that Sony's Spider-Man is part of the MCU but they're still doing their own thing for the most part.
2021 also had 9 projects. 4 movies, 5 series.
As far as the TV shows goes from this day forward, all shows should be a minimum of 12 episodes or more for each show.
Less is more. This is a very good thing! Back to the old ways of doing things, increasing the quality and not the quantity. I LOVE THIS!
This is no surprise after Nelson Peltz criticized the direction Disney was taking especially with Iger at the helm. This is probably pressured by the board of directors, quality control is needed across the board. Make no mistake, this will be the case across all brands (i.e., Star Wars etc.,)
I feel like some of it was due to Covid delaying and stacking stuff into a couple years. Going to 2 to 3 movies per year is what they had always done. Adding 2 shows a year is good.
Just watched Toy Story 2 again today with my family. All these years later it still holds up and now I want to get my son Toy Story merch. A movie done right pays out in the long run-especially under the Disney machine.
The number is not so much the problem. It's the quality. Let's say last year they released just 2 movies and 2 shows, but they were Quantumania, The Marvels, Secret Invasion, and She-Hulk, what would that have changed? Focus on delivering something great one project at a time, and you'll be able to gradually win back the audience.
@mr.magicman1865

Kinda hoping they decide to throw in 1-2 tv specials a year. Not sure what budget is on those but I like the idea of specials being some kind of sidestory team up, or character introduction
I don't mind the amount or quantity of content.... I just want high quality. Each of the different outputs have different writers and directors so even if the quantity is reduced does NOT automatically equate to higher quality. High quantity and quality can both be achieved with. Multiple studios have multiple movies and series each year anyways.

Does this mean another delay for the movies next year because right now 4 movies 2 d+ shows Captain America 4 Thunderbolts* Fantastic Four Blade (likely never coming out) will be replaced by Spider-man 4 next year hopefully 🤞
"Show Quantity" wise it may seem like a lot to keep up with, but compared to keeping up with 22 hour-long episodes a year with Agents of Shield and the Netflix Binge drops, the Disney+ output is manageable to me and way easier than keeping up with all the Arrowverse 3 to 4 shows a week.
Whatever Igers says is in effect for 2 years thats all is left on his contract. After 2 years who knows what the new guy will want.
That sounds good to me.
Yes but remember covid played a massive part of this - there was nothing in 2020 when there was meant to be about 5 so there was quite a lot of build up in the coming years
I've said for the past three years Marvel needed to cut back their output of movies and TV shows to two movies and two shows a year. Many of you said quantity wasn't the problem but quality was an issue. Well, releasing a bunch of stuff without quality talent writing and CGI personnel isn't going to produce good movies and TV shows. I say good move by Iger because oversaturation and comic book movie fatigue is real.
3 movies and 3 shows
Honestly 3 a year is still a lot imo. I think the max should be 2. DC is also aiming for 2 movies a year when the new franchise kicks off. We don't need more than 4 major CBMS a year imo.
In 2023 Marvel/Disney released Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania ($200 mil + $100mil for advertising), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 ($250 mil + $100 mil) and The Marvels ($250 mil +$100 mil). The ticket sales for all three were $1.51 billion which means they roughly lost a quarter of a billion from theatrical sales alone. It is not as if they made more movies and had a smaller profit versus fewer movies with higher one. Bad movies lose money and you don't want to multiply losses. I think they are on the right track but the future will show if they will succeed.
Money blinds them.
How about 2 movies and 1 show every 2 years?
I’d take 9 marvel projects so long as they’re good, I think that’s what they should be focusing instead. Good stories.
Going back to 2 films per year would be glorious...if the writing, direction and overall quality is there of course.
I am glad. I would love to not have to bounce around all these shows. No homework. There are only so many hours in the day.
As long as they keep giving me more X-men 97, I’m good. At this point, it’s all I really care for.

Still seems a little high for my liking. A hard two movies and two shows a year I would be happy with. They currently have four on dock for 2025 (if Blade actually comes out then), so something will have to give there. They should only do 1-2 movies a year and 1-2 TV shows a year imo. 2021 was the only year the MCU had four movies (mostly because of the COVID year). They’ve had three films five different times (2023, 2022, 2019, 2018, and 2017), so it’s not like four movies is all that common. But it’s the amount tv shows WITH the movies that’s the problem. They releaswed in a 2-3 year window over 25+ projects.. For people who don't understand that means they have to hire 25+ different writers/wtiting rooms. Which means hiring less and less qualified writers each time which Feige can't oversee all at the same time
Won't will there be four movies next year?
Keep the X-Men 97 coming, and don't mind the limited MCU series, though I'm worried about Blade having to wait 5 years to get a sequel if the first one is well-liked and profitable. These phases should be shorter now that these kids are having kids themselves, and some of them are becoming grandpas and grandmas

As a fan of these movies, I think this is a solid plan. I love the superhero genre, but Marvel really killed it for me. I just don't give a shit about it anymore. I can't get excited for any CBM's, and I don't even bother seeing them in the cinema anymore either. And it's not the, "they just need to make better movies" excuse. It's the overabundance of it - have been saying that for years; and the story never feeling like it's going anywhere, like, to an ending. Just loosely tied together by some post credits bullshit. And DC... knowing Zack Snyder (and CO) had an ending planned for the DCEU (back, as late as 2015) was the right way to go, instead of what we got, no conclusion for anything. No real ending to the main five-part story, i.e., the Snyderverse; and hell, we didn't even get an ending to Shazam and I didn't even like those films; or any of the other dumb MCU style mid-credit teases. And now WB is trying again, with James Gunn, while the genre is dying. Good luck with that.

Hmmm....
To be fair, 2022 and 2023 only had 3 movies each, and 4 out of those 6 movies performed very well, whether you liked them or not. But there’s no reason to release more than 3 MCU Disney+ shows and specials a year, not including “non-canon” shows like X-Men 97 and What If. Also, by the 3-movie limit logic, they’re most likely going to delay Blade yet again out of 2025.
Here’s the thing. This is yet again choices made off of the wrong lessons. It’s the writing. It’s the decisions to spend millions on bad characters and stories. If Secret Invasion was the only thing that came out on Disney+ in 2023, that wouldn’t have made anything better. This is a decision based on money. No tangible lessons were learned.

That way, it would have been a case of "absence makes the heart grow fonder," and even when some of the people who insisted that they were done with the MCU after Endgame would get to the point of thinking, "Hey, remember when we hit those Marvel Cinematic Universe films at the theaters as events? I actually miss that." Then BOOM! I would have launched Phase Four, not with Black Widow, as was originally planned before Rona, or WandaVision, like they did after Rona blew up their original plans, but with Spider-Man: No Way Home, which would have been a proper way to open The Multiverse Saga after The Infinity Saga.
