    To me, Thor and Gor’s conflict is baked into the whole concept of Thor as a character. Thor IS a God. His conflict with Gor is self defense. He could acknowledge that by and large, the Gods across the universe are lazy and arrogant and maybe Gor is onto something but still want to defend himself. OR! Even more interesting, Thor could begin believing that the Gods are good and do help people and then become disillusioned halfway through, and have that be his driving force to not only survive, but to do better. That would play in nicely to the how they set up his character in the beginning as being kinda lost and aimless.

    Not just the biggest waste of a villain. The single page spread of Thor stopping the God Bomb is probably one of Thor's most awesome moments ever penned. I get that it would have been difficult to really do in a movie so I was prepared for it to get changed....and instead we got a waste of a really good Jane Foster Thor storyline just so the plot could be solved by Twue Wuv.

    SOV also does a better mind corrupted character whose world is shattered with Berkut. Finding out after years of assuming he would inherit the Rigelian empire only to find out that Alm (who was raised a commoner) is the emperor's son and would take it away from him (a royal), absolutely obliterates him. Berkut was so disgusted by the thought that he would have to serve a commoner, and his desire for the throne/power allows for Duma's influence to take hold and amplify his desires, to the point that he would sacrifice the love of his life, Rinea, for it. And it didn't come out of nowhere either, the game has built up how important the throne and the perception of royalty meant to Berkut SOV Based

    I actually enjoyed the Dr. Strange film but I understand the complaints with it. But yeah after gotg vol.3 I really don't find myself excited for any of their upcoming projects which is a shame since I really do believe comic book movies have the potential to be greater than they are right now but they just don't want to take that risk.

    29:05 something I'd like to add is that not all of the gods were evil. The big monster we see dead in the beginning of the movie was, according to Thor "One of the nicest gods you'd ever meet". I don't think it takes away from your interpretation though, I think it works in your favor that he holds his beliefs so tightly that he doesn't care if the gods are being harmful in any way

    I think i would have liked to see goor kidnapping the kids to bait thor, but on the meanwhile his or at least what seems to be just him scaring the kids in reality was actual concern and that he was doing it even if in not the best way as a way to actually teach them a lesson in regards to the nature of gods and who knows even opening up to them later on, and the kids later on using this to save his life and for thor and goor to reconsider what they are doing. God we could even have an action scene of goor actively protecting the kids from some gods and being kind of a hero or something.

    I don't blame Waititi, but I criticize Marvel for making this film feel half-assed. Gorr would've been an amazing villain, but Love and Thunder was just reduced to a generic family action comedy; with the antagonist like with every other MCU film ending up as forgettable compared to Loki and Thanos. Also, when is the third Childhood Trauma video you've promised us with? It's been a few months since then.

    I mean like Ragnarock, Taika Watiti actually had more control over Love and Thunder since he was the main writer. That said I do enjoy his previous work and I think the hate towards him is a little overblown but unwarranted. As for the Childhood Trauma Part 3, I'll porbably just make it an October release considering it's already so close. The problem with me and making a series is that I like to jump to a new project after completing something lol, wes anderson fans are still waiting for their part 2 (which is coming...someday)

    The last good mcu movie we had was no way home. That’s because at least in that film, the comedy and serious moments were well balance and knew how to treat all the characters, it gave development for all the spidermen and gave their characters proper conclusions, And the Villains also got development. This film is just tone def and meaningless.

    I genuinely don't understand people who complain about how this movie is just one big joke. That's a fair statement, but have they forgotten how Watiti writes his movies?? He's all about humiliating extremely dark and conflicting subject matter with humor and mundane morale takeaways like "Love is good" and "The Holocaust was bad". Ragnarok was just as much of a giant punchline, if not more. I'm not saying I adored Love and Thunder or anything, I just feel like people's expectations were way off base. It was a solid enough comic movie that just didn't really have much of a vision for the story beyond "Hey, we got Portman's contract renewed! Let's use it!"

  • @ZelcherProductions

    @ZelcherProductions

    As someone who enjoys some of Waititi's work, such as WWDITS and Jojo Rabbit, I think what makes those films work is that his quirky style is unique for those genres, vampire films and Holocaust films respectively. However, comic book movies, especially in the MCU, already lean into quirky comedy so Waititi's style just over bloats to the point of annoying the audience; that's my takeaway at least.

    On a more serious note: I haven't seen a Marvel film since Black Panther (and even then I skipped a ton of films up to that point), but I am somewhat familiar with Waititi's work (mainly Flight of the Concords, Wellington Paranormal, What We Do in the Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and Jojo Rabbit) and it really sounds like Gorr's shortcomings as a character are a result of Waititi-ism. Waititi is way more interested in making odd-ball comedies and 80s nostalgia baiting than writing serious plots. Thor: Ragnarok was directed by him, but written by 3 different writers (Eric Pearson, Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost) which probably explains how it was able to deliver comedy with a serious message at the end while Love & Thunder was co-written between him and Jennifer Robinson. As mentioned before, Waititi loves to nostalgia bait the "oMg TeH 80s wErE sO ePiXxX XDDD" so I wouldn't be surprised if he wrote Gorr with the intention of him being nothing more than a lame 80s cartoon esque villain with that stupid ass kidnapping the children plot. It's a shame because Gorr's motivation and backstory are really interesting. He could've been a villain that not only physically, but philosophically challenges the heroes through his world view. Conclusion: Taika Waititi? Moar leik Taika Waishiti LOL

    You make some good points. I wouldn't say I'm a fan of Taika Watiti but I did enjoy What we do in the Shadows and Jojo Rabbit. I think what makes those films work is that his quirky comedy is kind of unique to genres like vampire movies or world war 2 movies. But in the MCU every installment is already a quirky comedy so his style and writing is bloating it with more of what it doesn't need.

    This is a very funny comment that I knew I was going to get eventually. If you knew me and the content i make you’d know how much criticism I levy towards weeb shit. Anime is filled with embarrassing tropes and cliches that deter me from exploring it further. With that said, this makes it extra embarrassing that a huge media company like Marvel created such a shit show of a film that anime became praise worthy in comparison. At this point I respect anime I have no interest in watching over the slob that Marvel churns out of the safe corporate machine. That weeb shit probably has more creativity in one frame than Marvel has in the entirety of its phase 4 catalog.

You're telling me they are worse than action movies made in the 70's or 80's? But no, you'd rather watch a movie of two pictures yelling at each other while their mouths open and close, wielding swords 5 times as large as they are. @@RealCrazyDiamond Are you trying to imply that Marvel has better character development because yeah I absolutely love what they did with characters like the Hulk, Thor, and Gorr where they absolutely butcher the character writing so bad I WISH they didn't even try in the first place. The reason I name dropped foreign martial arts films is because they have better ACTION. You can not sit there and tell me that your green screen mcu vfx bullshit is better than the intensity seen in real talented choreography. The fact that you'll dismiss a genre as weeb shit while also turning a blind eye to the real problems found within the MCU is quite revealing. By all means continue being their prefect little consumer, enjoy your little "power fantasy" as your mind succumbs to the Marvel brain rot.
