This is missing the most notorious casting chase of them all, WB's legendary, obsessive pursuit of Josh Hartnett to be either Superman or Batman 2003. The offered him 4 total contracts, the final of which what would have become the largest contact in history, he still said no.

Will Smith as Superman? What was the idea behind that. Thank goodness he made the right choice turing it down.

That’s like casting Jack black for Spider-Man. They’re amazing celebrities, but they just look nothing like the character. Also come on, Will smith for superman?

He played Agent J in Men In Black who is white in the comics but nobody cared because the comics were obscure and most movie audiences didn't know the movie was based on a comic book. You can get away with race swapping a more obscure character like Agent J and Deadshot from Suicide Squad but not a more well known character like Superman. After all, could you picture a white Steve Urkel or B.A. Baracus? And if you objected to it, would that make you racist?

Just to be clear: Heath Ledger didn't refuse the role, in fact he even auditioned to get it, but then Christian Bale got it and Nolan kept it for another character, like a joker in the deck... (I'm terrible) Which he had already done with Cillian Murphy, he auditioned as Batman (who you can still find on YT) but then Nolan gave him the role of the scarecrow

Will Smith was never offered the role of Superman. In 1998 there were plans to make a Steel Movie. Will Smith turned down the initial offer for the title role and the project was abandoned due to DC executives not supporting the movie.

Bryan Cranston as Sebastian Shaw is something we missed out on. I loved Kevin Bacon’s portrayal but Cranston would’ve dominated it.
