I am here - and in mourning. I certainly don't share the insensitive comments in this fucking video. Marty was a great coach - but even more than that, he was a man who was not ashamed to show his emotions - as Jennifer Montana once said. Why hasn't Joe made a statement today? That sort of sucks. Anyway, Marty was even greater as a parent. Of that, I have the highest respect.

What's awful about that interception->fumble against the Patriots is that there's recordings of Schottenheimer LITERALLY telling his players when they make the interception to win the game GO DOWN dont run it. Like...if thats not a sign of being cursed I don't know what is. Can't blame Marty if someone just plain doesnt listen.

Milsurp Mike Channel I was at the preseason game where Marty was inducted into the Chiefs Hall of Fame. All of Arrowhead erupted into chants of “Mart-y, Mart-y, Mart-y!” It was great. Even though I was a kid when he was here and didn’t watch football until ‘03, I heard plenty and have seen several games. The man was a damn good coach and he deserved to at least get to 1 superbowl.

RIP Marty Absolute legend who deserved a Super Bowl while he was still here

R.I.P Marty Schottenheimer. He never got the big one but he was one of the best coaches there was. One of only 8 with 200 wins. As a Browns fan, I thank Marty for what he's done for us. May he rest in peace.

Snyder never should have fired Marty after 1 year. Team was behind him, and so were the fans. A lot of fans turned on Snyder that day.

I feel really bad for Marty. The amount of pain he went through in his career is completely unimaginable. Hopefully he’s in a better place now. He helped bring some much needed additions to the game that draw parallels to what Pete Carroll did before Russ’s emergence or what Jack Del Rio did with us. May Marty rest in paradise.

I might be a Chiefs fan, but I can agree with that statement. Though at the same time I must give the obligatory Fuck You Raider.

Marty is a prime example that you can be a great coach, but without some luck going your way at the right times, you will go from hero to zero instantaneously. Winning Super Bowls requires a ton of things to go your way, and yes, that includes luck. He just didn’t have the luck at the right times, and kept running into people like John Elway and Tom Brady who rain on his parade.

RIP Derek Thomas. The reason I finally got into college football

I've been a San Diego homer my whole life, I was too young to remember the Boss Ross teams my Dad still talks about, but I can still recall the horrors of Ryan Leaf. Marty had a lot to do with the change in how fans felt about the team afterwards. Some of my favorite childhood sports memories are when the Padres beat the Braves in the NLCS & watching LT absolutely destroy teams in his prime. I am really grateful for all he did for this city in his time with the Chargers. He might not have been the most creative play-caller, or best player evaluator, but I enjoyed watching those early 2000s teams so damn much. Even if it meant getting your hopes crushed in the rain when Nate Kaeding blows his FG attempts. 😭

That interception fumble has to be the biggest example of Brady’s luck I have ever seen

Always respected Marty. Enjoyed the team he put together almost every time. He really put up with shit ownership the later half of his career.

Hearing the "Oh no!" from Kid Pix never ceases to bring me joy.

I was at Arrowhead for a preseason game when they inducted Marty into the Chiefs HOF. Tons of old stars from the past were there as well as the top brass of the team. I will never forget the sea of red as they broke out into chants of “Marty, Marty, Marty”.

And now Schottenheimer has Alzheimer's. It's a damn shame, he really was a good coach...

I remember watching that Chargers vs Patriots game as a kid and proceeding to question how the hell a coach gets fired after going 14-2. Going 14-2 and losing to the greatest dynasty in history? No shame in that.

Chargers won that game and they probably would had won a championship. They were a really good team that year.

Marty Schottenheimer, as I call him the NFL's equivalent to MLB's Dusty Baker. Both know how to run a team, both will get you into the playoffs, then heartbreak in the playoffs. Still in awe how the Cubs beat the Nationals in the NLDS in 2017, like they tried to give it to the Nats

they DID. the rain delay gave them life. (MLB late games are very momentum based and they had none of it before that, it allowed them to gain a footing and the Nats immediately folded)

At least Dusty Baker can advance to the league's championship game. Everyone knows Marty Schottenheimer never won a Super Bowl, but it’s quite common to forget that Marty never made it to the Super Bowl.

He kinda got a ring as apart of 1965 Buffalo Bills that won the afl championship

While it is a bit unfortunate Schottenheimer's NFL legacy is nothing but postseason heartbreak, he still lived an incredible life that most of us dream of. R.I.P Coach

This video is completely different now that Marty is gone. RIP coach Schottenheimer, may the football gods reward your hard work in the afterlife. Hopefully with a super bowl ring and a Vince Lombardi trophy.

That's why 14-2 doesn't even matter. That team would have won 14 games with a hamster calling the offense. ALLTIME HALL OF FAME OFFENE. ALLTIME HALL OF FAME DEFENSE. Still doesnt win a playoff. That's on the coach as much as anyone else.

On top of the terrible luck he kept running into legendary quarterbacks. The guy got routed by Jim Kelly, John Elway, Dan Marino, Warren Moon, Tom Brady... Even Chad Pennington was in there. Squad of absolute legends.

The 2000's Chargers are when I really started paying attention to football, and I always had hope for Martyball. It never came to pass, but the 2005 team is what I really remember and wish had a championship
