There was no beginning and can be no end , before the big bang there possible was another big bang or similar, the end will only be the end of our universe, it may give rise to another universe , or other universes will continue to exist , basically there are no limits and infinite amount of possibilities

It is no nature in 4% of the universe. Renaming either theory dark matter doesn't make it physical or a material lol Their is no esoteric theory of everything woven into the universe. It's more complex than this. Just as you would create something you would add more redundancy to it.

On the one hand we'd travel for about 40 thousand years to get to the nearest planet that MIGHT support human life, nevermind the inevitable conflicts that would compel those astronauts to attempt to return to Earth after about one, count 'em, one generation......... but on the other hand, I'm wondering how if in space something has to push against something else to achieve movement, and in the opposite direction, but if space, by definition, is nothingness, what does a space craft's engine propel against while in space? If it's truly propelling against nothingness, why is it not motionless? Just hot air blasting out of its nether regions, like a series of farts. I'm not denying gravity, I'm just saying "space" needs to be redefined if we are to continue.

Lex Fridman. This man stole my heart. I’m a 29 year old mom who is cleaning my home and I can’t find anything else in the world I would rather listen to. This seems like the most important questions in life. Everything that came out of this man’s mouth is all I think about on repeat in my brain. I don’t comment usually in videos. Especially his excitement for ai makes me think that it’s one day going to come up and slap us in the face with the advancements of technology once ai is helping us. The part especially about making a simulation to predict certain clues for the actual theory of everything really made me wonder if were in one right now. The theory that gets everyone spooked.

Rees is a great example of why matured elders will always be the default to finding wisdom and sanity in progress. Lex has a great optimism which is normal for being under 40, but once you cross 40 and have some experience with all the generations of life, you realize that science fiction really is fantasy for the most part, it’s just that it’s the fantasies of nerdy boys, but it’s fantasy all the same. No one wants to be cared for by a robot in old age. Before returning to grad school, I worked in hospice and took care of elderly people in institutions. It’s a crime we put them in these homes as if they were a burden on “economy” and progress. Old age exists precisely because we are supposed to develop our consciousness further (beyond the maturation it goes through when you become a parent) by taking care of our mothers and fathers, uncles and aunts. It’s not dirty work. It’s profound and humbling and it’s where we find our deepest wisdom, which the tech utopians most often lack because they’re stuck in their childish fantasies. More elders as guests on the show would be a great balance to the youth Lex is still experiencing. People like Rees have the vital ability to speak sensibly about the future of the human race without the tech sensationalism that often blinds the Musk fanboys (me being one of them). Well done on getting this diamond soul to speak on the podcast!
This is one of the best podcasts i've ever listened to, thanks for doing it Lex

@@SonicImmersion_ you nailed it - more or less the same boat for me 👍🏻
There is no one better than Sir. Rees. Thank you so much Lex.
I could listen to you hold a conversation with this gentleman anytime.
Hands down this podcast produces the most thought provoking conversations on the planet. Phenomenal.
Beautiful human inside and out. We need more like him too. ❤️ Such a broad and recent knowledge and so fresh views on such diverse matters - at 80 years of age. Thank you for sharing this conversation.
I can't think of a better and more informative way of delivering information about life and the universe than a gentle older british professor. I'm not familar with Martin Rees, but even 5 minutes in I'm totally enraptured

He’s not just an older British professor. He’s the Astronomer Royal! The very top! Well done to get him on! He seemed to be having a very good time and the resulting chat was uplifting and enlightening. Hard work for a non-scientist like me (I’m with his chimps on this!)but I am compelled to try. Very entertaining questions!
Martin is a Genius. Listening to a genius is like being slapped in the face with reality. I could watch this interview 100 times over. ❤✴️
Genius, generous and a Lord indeed! what a pleasure to listen this podcast!
Loved this interview just loved listening to him I could of sat for hours just listening to him wonderful thank you
Amazing Channel Lex, You're such an insightful and intelligent interviewer, Thanks so much. We already know the reason for, you know, life the universe and everything though as I'm sure you are aware. Its 42 of course! Great stuff. Carry on sir.
i love martins consistent smile! he seems like such a lovely man.
I'm so impresseed by Lex here. One of his best interviews with one of the most well-read individuals ever.
Oh Lex, I can't wait for this one! Love you, bro!!!!
The volume of knowledge within a single interview is incredible like many of his podcast. On the big bang, factoring in the time dilation due to gravity/velocity is something I can't wrap my head around. Won't the slower wave of matter disappear with reference to those with a much faster timeline?
Another great podcast, Martin puts complicated subjects across in an easy to understand (or at least appreciate) way.
Certainly one of the best Podcast on your channel. Thnx so much !
Lex, bring the guitar introduction back please. It sets the tone for the conversations brilliantly.
Lex, you and your guests are treasures!
Lex always rock on his podcast, what a great conversation!!
I really appreciate Martin's enthusiasm with science. It's infectious and imparts a strong sense of faith in the utility of common good in scientific progress that i wish I saw more
Amazing podcast !! A brilliant guest and brilliant stewarding of the conversation by Lex. Such a lot of thought provoking ideas .

Only thing amazing is the amount of BS you can never understand! Rubbish
I’m surprised I never heard of this man. He is brilliant! Looking forward to reading his literature

His CV is bonkers; top UK astrophysicist in the last 50 years, President of the Royal Society (club for ultra boffins), Master of Trinity College in Cambridge (a sort of mini Harvard or Yale) and a Lord no less so gets to sit in the House of Lords at Westminster in a funny red gown. Well, he earned it I say.
Lord Rees is blessed with great knowledge. I would just love to sit and make the tea, hoping to glean a tiny glimpse of the Universe.
I am using your "advice for young people" in my chemistry class to close out on Fridays. What an awesome question to ask, and what wonderful insight by top minds that is provided to our new generation of scientific thinkers. THANK YOU FOR TIME-STAMPING LEX!!!! I am going to request a 10 minute talk as a guest speaker in my course, but understand this is a very tall ask..... This podcast is the best on KZread, BAR NONE!
