I find it amazing. Ange has had 1 season and has maintained a European spot in the League all season. After Mourinho and Conte, allegedly top managers, he has vastly improved the team. I disagree, conte qualified spurs in his first season for UCL. And Mourinho got spurs to a cup final in his second season . Postecoglou has been figured out, his team's keep a high line and are easy to get at. Also vicario is obviously a soft target at corners.

@@shamadam1The defense needs to be improved but the high line narrative is so stupid, there's at least 3 teams that keep a higher line than Spurs and don't get the same criticism. It's also not Vicarios fault that other teams stick a defender on him to block his view and push him around, it's Ange's for not sticking a player on him to stop that from happening like every other team does

My 2 cents on Spurs and Ange - This is the first season of Ange and the first season is about stamping a playing style and make sure the club follows the style. It's not the season to do minor changes during games because it causes confusion within the club and within the players ( keep in mind that this is a squad that played in a defensive style for 3-4 years) . I see Ange doing tactical tweaks in his second season when he has a more complete squad with players that he wants. Everyone needed a project with Ange but no one has the patience to go through the project. I have watched enough football to understand that the media and the fans are reactionary. We will see in a years time.

Whenever one of our key players gets injured, like most recently Udogie, the wheels come off Postecoglou's system. We saw it happen earlier in the season. Spurs don't have the luxury of having a world class backup for an injured key player, like for instance Man City do. We need have to have a back up plan when inevitably someone gets injured and then we are left with throwing someone like Davies into the mix, who has no business playing in Postecoglous system.

Ange has literally said that he wants the basic style of play developed this season and that next year he will look to have different styles. 5th this year is not a bad position. Most fans said any European football is a step in the right direction. Let him make a few signings and have better depth. We weren’t awful in the game. They only had one goal on the counter and I think that Udogie would have closed him down if he was playing. If we took some of our big chances the game could have played differently. I'm a Villa fan and appreciate everything O'Neill did for us. However, if the headline is true, he's a fine one to talk about a lack of Plan B. He had 11 players he liked, no squad planning, rarely made a substitution, and stuck with his tactics of big burly defenders hoofing it to the speed merchants up front. Over simplifying it, I admit, but still it was so frustrating. He did the same at Leicester as well

As a complete " outsider" with no foot in either camp I dont understand what Angie is doing at Spurs this year. After the Chelski game the Spurs fans were saying how brave he was and how happy they were ? Fast forward to yesterday Arsenal did not really start the game well and lost possession in their own third a few times, instead of Spurs pouncing they were content to get the ball then go backwards to their own half way line and pop it around without getting anywhere ?

First seasons under Ange, if fans do their research ends up like this, in fact worse, this is probably the first time he's had a team in the top half in his first season, outside of Celtic (that in itself due to the fact that they're a Scottish powerhouse). He embeds his philosophy in that first season, weeds out the players who are willing and able, discards the ones who are not a good fit, technically and personally. I'm so encouraged at what he's been able to do. People don't realise how huge a blow it was to lose Perisic and Solomon to injury at the same time, both for an indefinite period. His system relies heavily on the wingers staying wide, being good 1v1 and cutting balls back after winning duels. Many Spurs fans forget Pochettino's 14/15 debut campaign, when they thought he would transplant the Southampton playing style immediately and they woud top the league. Finished 5th, and conceded what was a lot back then, 54 goals, but Poch had started instilling his bravery philosophy. I believe Ange's version is better than Poch's. I think we're in for a treat as Spurs fans.

Football is a game of fine margins. Romero missed the goal by inches with a header, hit the post with another header and at 1-0, Van der van had a goal chalked off for a very very tight offside. That's football. What Spurs and Ange fell down on was their defending. The saka goal was horrific - arsenal went from their own pen area to spurs' with 2 passes - completely and utterly ridiculous. Their set piece marking also seems to be zonal focussed which whilst well thought through, it didn't seem fit for purpose on the day. You have to put onus on the players on the pitch to have tried and rectified that. You can't blame the coach for everything. They conceded really soft goals. And as for Plan B - Man City play the same way no matter the opposition. They go after teams and look to force their will and 99% of the time they come out on top. It is most admirable that Ange tries to play football. And I'm sure if allowed to reinforce with better players, they'll kick on next season. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a team on the front foot. But inevitably it is a style that gives the opposition chances.

While the football has certainly improved under A.P, defensively we look vulnerable & catastrophic most of the time. I never feel comfortable watching the team against anyone at the moment. Conceding goals time & time again doesn't win trophies or achieve tangible success. It needs addressing now. Ardiles played a similar style of play in the early nineties with Spurs but the wheels soon came off resulting in his sacking. I hope Ange doesn't meet the same fate.

Spurs has spent as much as Arsenal recently, Simon. To say that Arsenal are better than Spurs due to spending is false. Look at the money they spent on Richarlison, Johnson, Romero, etc. That alone is nearly 150m. Don't forget Sprus beat Arsenal to CL in 21/22 so they wasted that opportunity to leverage that. Arsenal has become way better than them since due to better diligence. KSE is a bad owner, but he is clearly achieved more on the pitch than Levy. Tottenham also earn more money than Arsenal, by the latest released revenues. And as transfer revenues are based off a club's financial status, then they should be able to spend more money than Arsenal. Tottenham's faults are all down to Levy. Nothing more or less!

Spurs biggest problem (among many smaller ones) is the same as it’s always been; and always likely to be- namely there’s a bigger, more successful, more popular, more viable, greater reaching global entity just down the road. If Arsenal were sitting in eighth then spurs fans would be delighted with the season. That’s been spurs since I’ve been alive and it’s been Daniel levy’s strategy since his day one at the club. All that money spent in facilities and stadia etc etc to be where Arsenal were in 2006 obviously without the trophies. Spurs want to catch up to Arsenal always have always will. That feeling is never reciprocated. The moment spurs look to themselves and set their own path they could be dangerous but the fans won’t allow it, Daniel Levy can do nothing other than replicate the Arsenal business model and the club is always going to be measured against the bigger neighbours. With all that in mind if the club doesn’t (and never has had a plan b) why would Ange bother with one? His tenure at spurs is ultimately dictated by how succesful Arteta is anyway! If Arsenal win the league this season the pressure on spurs will be immense and the first sign of a slip and he’s done. If they don’t win the league but start next season the same as the last two then again slightest blip and he’s a goner. The only thing that’s going to get Postacoglu anywhere near a third season at spurs is how Arsenal perform. So why would he compromise his style? Spurs haven’t for thirty years
