    Not really. If my nan had wheels she'd be a bicycle. If utd hadnt got trounced by Brentford and Liverpool theyd have been further away. If Liverpool hadn't got beaten by Bournemouth, Forest and Leeds theyd have been further away. If Spurs hadn't gotten lucky vs Bournemouth, theyd have been further away. Spurs were dreadful and without Kane theyd comfortably be bottom half. Really hopr Kane goes so we can see what Spurs really are.

    Being Australian and not an ex big league player, he has had to undertake a lengthy coaching apprenticeship. Winning championships in multiple leagues will hold him in good stead. Winning titles with lesser sides, apart from celtic, just highlights that his message is transferrable. Winning consistently in different leagues, i think, is more impressive than solely winning at one club. Add to that his Asian Cup win with Australia. His is a great journey to follow, i hope he does well.

    Postecoglou qualified Australia twice to the world cup, in Brazil Australia was in the group of death against holders Spain runners up Netherlands and Chile, loosing all games he still was highly regarded and won over a lot of people in the know over AU efforts there, a team full of nobodies took on some of the best in the world at that time, standing down before the next world cup went to Japan winning in first full season the JLeague, won 3 i think championships in AU, won with AU the Asians Champions Cup, when he went to Celtic the club was in a bit of a whirl going down, small squad to start with rebuilt in that first season and still managed too take 2 trophies, 3 the next, lets look at Spurs, 2 high profile managers with egos the size of Europe, one think you wont get from Ange is lambasting his squad like Conte, i think Ange is a very good fit, no big head knows how to work with small budget gets the best out of players and thats everywhere hes been, wont make excuses and will press press press....

    Why can’t Martin understand that he’s saying if Celtic had tottenhams team, they would’ve beaten Real Madrid playing like that. Like he said, they’re playing in a smaller league and so don’t have quite the depth in quality. I’m really happy that we’ve got a positive attacking manager. This is a fantastic appointment.. I've been saying this for a long time, Big Ange is one of the best managers in the world.. No manager on the planet , could of done what he achieved in his 2 yrs at Celtic.. People forget the state the club was in , when he took over.. There was a game last year, against Rangers where Celtic played with the intensity/speed, cohesion, synergy and passion that I havn't seen since Sir Alex's great Man Utd sides...People mite say , it was only Celtic, then J league blah blah where he has been successful.. Don't matter , football pitches r the same all over the world.. It's his football style and philosophy that sets him apart and makes him a winner... Spurs will be the fittest team in the premier league also, watch the pre- season he puts the spurs player's thru.. All u experts, mite ridicule, mock and make fun of my comments.. Ange fears no one, there's no pressure on him. As everyone thinks he will fail.. Top 3 or even win the tittle in his first year t there.. England will know Who big Ange is by the end of the season..

    Not sure that's accurate. I hear plenty of us whinging about Levy but I've been a Spurs fan long enough to recognise where our club was before he came around and where we are now. He has given us stability and he has tried a LOT. He gets it in the neck for transfer stuff but most of us were very happy with the last summer window, Levy splashed plenty of cash and Conte got a lot of what he asked for. When Levy first arrived at Spurs we got a reputation as a bit of manager merry-go-round and he was criticised for that, but there were reasons for that and, at the end of the day, Levy was able to make tough decisions. He lost a LOT of Spurs fans when it seemed we had finally turned a corner with Jol and then Levy's handling of that situation was not great. However, we only get to see it from the outside looking in and, as far as I'm concerned (being a Spurs fan for over 40 years) Levy actually cares about out club, he is present at virtually every Home game and he has done a huge amount for the local area too which, let's face it, is a proper dump. We get devastated these days when we finish 8th ... EIGHTH! For half my timer supporting Spurs that was there best we could hope for and now, for well over a decade, we've been often Top 4, consistently Top 6, and 8th only twice, the last time being in the wake of Juan Ramos and we went on with Harry Redknapp to qualify for the UCL for the first time in our history the following season. Go back and look at our league finishes in the Premier League since it started until 2005 and then look at what we did in the 15-20 years after and tell me Levy has not given us stability. We can criticise the guy as we can criticise anybody but we also need to give credit and I, personally, have a lot of time for him. People always want what they haven't got, be grateful for what we have and we have a local guy, Spurs fan since childhood, who absolutely loves the club, has built us an incredible infrastructure that we can continue to build upon long after he has gone, we have improved immensely on the pitch since he arrived, he is financially sensible, not looking to just take money out of the club but has been pouring into the club and, whilst I know us fans would like to see more of it poured into actual improvements on the pitch, you cannot ignore that we NEEDED to focus on other areas first. Just listen to Luka Modric talking about the state of the facilities at Spurs when he was at the club, honestly, it sounded like we had better facilities at my school! We're not privy to what gets said in these transfer negotiations either - how many players did Levy get to open negotiations with who then backed out once they saw the state of our facilities? Who knows, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were quite a few. Regardless, I look at many clubs with their owners who may sometimes 'splash the cash' but they're often not happy that their owners do not seem to really care about the club itself. You have club's like Manchester City and PSG whose owners do seem to get it, have really invested in both players AND the club and are heavily involved but, I must say, it still feels like they've had to sell their souls. For all our gripes about Levy, he IS Spurs and always will be.

  • @matthewwalker5430

    @matthewwalker5430

    Жыл бұрын

    @@windrider6124 our last 2 managers were among the highest paid and almost everyone thought Conte was the answer. We were amongst the largest spenders last summer too and most people thought we bought well. We’ve built one of the largest most modern training grounds in the world, not just the country, and we’ve followed that by building one of the best stadiums around too. All of that needed doing and it is about putting the right pieces in the right places in the right order. The last thing that needs to be done is focus on results and what happens on the pitch and Levy can only influence that so much. Also, we may be among the most profitable but we were almost bankrupted when the Premier League started. Most clubs fall down the leagues and take YEARS to come back from that but Sugar steadied the ship and Levy has brought us back to being one of the most stable, largest clubs in the country. At the start of this season nobody predicted we would slip away so much and I can’t see how that is Levy’s fault that Conte failed to work out. As I said, I am open to criticising him and the board when they supposedly miss a target over a perceivably affordable fee or selling a player we don’t want sold but I feel like many Spurs fans use Levy as a scapegoat rather than appreciating all that he has achieved for us. This situation with Conte I don’t think Levy can take the blame for at all. The whole issue with Pochettino he could take criticism for, sure, but I also feel Poch is a bit responsible for how he left. Sometimes I get angry with Levy from the outside looking in but I genuinely think he has the club’s best interests at heart, he is a very clever, business savvy guy and we could do a LOT worse very easily. Be careful what we wish for.

How many clubs have been to 3 finals and their talisman contributed zero to the effort in the telling moments. If you are defined by trophies, do you think Harry could have stamped his class on games we lost by no more than 2 goals? Just asking? You tend to think stating things that are factual is backing Levy. Nothing wrong with laying into the chairman for his mishandling of the club. The caller was merely stating as bad as people like you are going on about the club, a few wins here or there could have changed the fortunes. Not because you fall amongst the angry, does not mean everyone should join you, and rant instead of applying reasoning to the situation. Chelsea in winning had hired 28 managers over the past 30 years, close to 23 in the last 25 years. We should adopted their model, I think. Stop behaving like Spurs was some giant club falling from grace in the league. We were always middle of table, winning a few cups here and there,but was never serious contender for the PL. Conte in his own words like Jose stated at the beginning of those seasons, professed to have what they needed. I blame Ley for the untimely firing of Jose, but in general his football was horrible. Conte's expectation of where he concisderdd progress was one bad call away from going into 3, yet instead of treating it like a learning moment, capitulated ranting his way to getting himself fired. The honorable thing to do was to quit if conditions did not suit him, but it would mean giving up part of $15M he was handsomely paid to turn things around. Good to know you want someone to work for your club who fancies themselve above the club.

You are a busted flush and a big fish in a puddle, anyone can win in a Sunday pub league not competing in the most watched league on the planet. Don't cry about it lad, it's just the truth.. Next.

    Do NOT underestimate Ange. Do NOT make the same mistake everyone did when Wenger joined the league from J league. He is a self made man and it will be great to have him in the league competing with the other top managers. See you in NLD and try to press Arsenal from the front. We'll have a cracker.

    Keown is well out of order with John the caller. His Gooner partisanship is steering him. He's got to get a grip. Spurs underperformed because of many factors including a prima donna, tactically rigid, manager who seems to have had a breakdown during the season and stormed out instead of staying to the end of his contract, working for the benefit of the club and then leaving with some honour.

    My dad saw Spurs win the double. Which he loved, so he gave me spurs, as a toddler. They are my team. But they have only won five trophies in my lifetime. I want to see glory glory football. I think we are about to reenter that era. Ange is a full on glory football manager. I am so happy we have him.

    Saying he's done more than Arteta who's worked with 2 of the biggest clubs in the world is ridiculous! That's the same argument that Ranger fans use when saying they're the most successful club in Britain....There are levels to management and trophies, you can't rate the Scottish prem title on par with the EPL title. The 2 biggest clubs in Scotland get a bye into European football every year! They'd be mid table in the Championship down here.

    Mourinho and Conte were both bigger than the club. In retrospect, that wasn’t healthy (although I thought Conte was a good appointment at the time). Ange will come in with a sleeves-up attitude, like Conte did, but unlike Conte he won’t bring a massive ego. He’ll bring everyone together, instil a positive attitude and get Tottenham playing a good brand of football.

    I think his upbringing has made Ange, and the fact that he has a wonderful wife that has supported him all the way that’s what really sets him apart. He would bring a team from the bottom ( forget 8th ) to nearly the top in any league.
