Martin Aged Authentic D18 & D28

Ойын-сауық

The D-28 Authentic 1937 VTS acoustic guitar offers the deep bass response that's made Martin dreadnoughts so popular. Yet it also has a high-end presence that sings out even in heavy instrumentation. The instrument boasts a massive dynamic range: from loud, bombastic passages to quiet subtleties, you'll appreciate its immediate response to your unique touch. Whether you're flatpicking or playing fingerstyle, it reflects every nuance of your technique. The powerful voice and full sound of the D-28 have made it a staple in the bluegrass world, but its bold sonic signature has been heard cross-genre. The D-28 Authentic 1937 VTS is the ultimate expression of this exalted paragon from Martin's golden era.
The Martin D-18 Authentic 1937 VTS is a flatpicker's delight, and an instant collectible. Martin left no stone unturned, exhaustively researching original pre-WWII D-18s to nail the specs, materials, and construction methods used in this historic re-creation. This guitar boasts a spot-on Golden-era body profile, an Adirondack spruce top with circa-1937 forward-shifted X bracing, "Old Style 18" fingerboard inlays, an authentic neck barrel and heel, brown tortoise-pattern binding, an ebony fingerboard, a glue-in long-saddle bridge, and a bone nut. To top it off, the D-18 Authentic 1937 VTS is finished using Martin's Vintage Tone System (VTS), a unique tonewood-finishing recipe that allows Martin to age a guitar's top. All that vintage goodness results in a highly playable - and incredible-sounding - acoustic guitar. If you're in the market for a truly special instrument, the Martin D-18 Authentic 1937 VTS is it.

got a '37 D-28 Authentic made the first year... love it... it blows my teacher's mind when he plays it, says it compares to "real" vintage axes he's played...

I was able to spend time with both of these for a week. The D28 blew away the D18. So much so that I asked a buddy over to play them, I didn't say a word, and he said the same thing. I really wanted to like the D18 Aged Authentic 37, but the 28 has the volume for Flatpicking to be heard in a noisy bluegrass jam. The bass player commented that it sounded like a bass, so it has the low end too. I kept the 28. This is a special guitar. I don't care for the scratches and aged look, but it isn't that noticeable. At the same time, I'm not cleaning the fingerprints off every time its touched, which is nice. And that smell of this new guitar is amazing.

Those both sound so sweet and rich. It's like taking a sponge bath in guitar form just listening to them. Got a D41 Amber this year and never have played anything so beautiful. Martin dreads are just tops in sound quality in the acoustic world IMO.

Y'all are sounding great together. You should get stage time at the Merle Fest this spring. Those Martins are making me wish I had waited on that purchase on my Hummingbird, but I think you could make a couple of First Acts sound good.

I normally lean more towards Taylor's then Martin's but those sound amazing. I bet a full Mahogany would sound even better

Really like these Martins. I have a D28, 000C12 gut string and a DX Cash. 9 which is made in Mexico. Bought all from Sweetwater. But you guys know by now that I truly love my Esteban. You really need to do more with those guitars. Didn't you feature one sometime back?

Just beautiful fellas! Did I see divots in the spruce top of the D-28 (upper section) when the light hit it in just the right angle? Is that natural in the wood or the authentic 1930's wear?

Smiling here too. A couple years ago, I picked up a 1989 DY90 on Reverb for $1350, in its time sold as the Super Abalone, a D-45 type with a three piece D-35 back of Yairi’s special laminated Brazilian Rosewood. There are still so many Yairi bargains out there. But … wow, Baxter, you rocked those demos. I get the price differential.

rosewood is to mucky, to much going on, to many over tones...its killer but mahogany has that controlled feeling, just my two cents...I had both of these guitars by the way cant go wrong with either
