Welcome to the Martial Arts Journey KZread channel!
My name is Rokas. I'm a Lithuanian guy who trained Aikido for 14 years, 7 of them running a professional Aikido Dojo until eventually I realized that Aikido does not live up to what it promises.
Lead by this realization I decided to make a daring step to close my Aikido Dojo and move to Portland, Oregon for six months to start training MMA at the famous Straight Blast Gym Headquarters under head coach Matt Thornton.
After six months intensive training I had my first amateur MMA fight after which I moved back to Lithuania. During all of this time I am documenting my experience through my KZread channel called "Martial Arts Journey".
Now I am slowly setting up plans to continue training MMA under quality guidance and getting ready for my next MMA fight as I further document and share my journey and discoveries.

I really enjoyed this. Inventing fictional reasons to have to physically defend yourself is 80% of being an MMA bro. Wish they invented more fictional reasons to have to physically defend a trashy girlfriend though to round out the rest of the MMA bro experience.

Can I just say now that it's over. I want to see Icy Mike in literally every reality game show ever. Like, imagine him on the Bachelorette having literally no romantic interest in the woman, working off of pure competitive drive, and inexplicably making it into the final round because the producers won't let him leave the show because he's too entertaining. Great work with the show Rokas!

Turn off your phone and computer and go and get some books. See if you can find out what the word "literally" means and how to correctly use it. Then, see if you can expand your vocabulary sufficiently that you are capable of adding emphasis without misusing the word "literally". If you do those things, you will find that educated adults are far more likely to take you seriously. I am assuming that you are above the age of eight. If you are not above the age of eight then just carry on as you are.

Mayor kudos to Mike and Ramsey for being the most disadvantaged throughout ( Mike being so much smaller than everybody else and Ramsey detailed all the things he was dealing with in his videos) as well as being the oldest and doing so well against beasts like Jeff and Seth. Rokas should get a Most Improved Fighter award. He is low key a beast too. BTW Ramsey was on point as a judge so maybe he could be a judge next time. But there is a catch. Season 2 has to be filmed much earlier than expected, since the whole facility is going to be demolished at the end of the year, and the only way to get enough finances by then is a crowdfunder. Rokas really surprised me. I had no idea he was so tough. Every single fight he was in, the concensus was 'he did better than I thought he would.' I guess that's the definition of the proverb, 'speak softly, but carry a big stick.' Kudos for being bad ass and being really humble about it.

I cannot express how much respect for all the participants this provokes and how much Rokas is cracked by coming up with this concept and carrying it on. An amazing experience, this show needs to happen again, it was entertaining, wholesome and interesting to watch. Rokas, my guy, this was one of the most, if not THE most enjoyable thing, i ever saw on youtube. The effort and commitment you had on bringing us this, is flatout unbelievable. I am speechless. As an editor (did it as work a few years ago) as well as a martial artist. You did an awesome job, from start to finish. Take you're time with the next season, don't rush it. You got this :) Love and best regards from Germany!

Dude, I am immeasurably excited to know that season 2 is happening! I've said this repeatedly since episode 2 of this season, this is the best event I've ever seen on KZread, by a very wide margin. I'm proud of all of the competitors, but Rokas in particular really earned everyone's respect by bringing home the bronze medal despite having been written off by the early poll results. Jeff Chan is a beast, Sensei Seth is fantastic, and Icy Mike is the most entertaining man in the self-defense community. I am bummed that Ramsay and Matt were unable to finish the competition, but they both proved their toughness and expertise throughout the challenge. I hope everyone heals up and continues to bring us top-tier content, and you all have found a fan for life in me, and undoubtedly many others.

I'm overwhelmed by the number of things I want to say about this, so I'll swallow the essay building and just say: holy shit, amazing job by everyone involved, CLUTCH finish by Jeff Chan, one of the best things I've seen on KZread or anywhere. This IS martial arts. This is what it's about. All of it, from the zany challenges to the humbling moments to the forging of camaraderie in the crucible of effort. I'm *emotional* about the announcement of season two - what a ride that's going to be! What a ride this was! Thank you so much for putting this energy into the world.

I don’t ever write on KZread. But I can’t stay silent this time. This series has been one of the most profound things I have ever watched. As a long time martial artist, I was already subscribed to half of the contestants. I’ve subscribed to them all now. I’ve never laughed so hard, or been so close to tears or so on the edge of my seat as when I was watching you guys go through this ordeal. This needs to be an ongoing series. It has reinforced some of my long held self defence theories and shattered others. I believe that everyone who has watched this and understood it has grown along with each of you in this experience. You guys are true legends and I look forward to more content from all of you.
