Marshall JCM 800 50 Watt lead review

This amp was made in 1985 or 1987 with a Celestion Vintage 30 -(made in the Uk) speaker.

I own one and love it! Covers lots of ground, plus a really good reverb. For sure, as others have said, the clean channel kicks butt all by itself. I find myself using it more and more, and just using the drive channel for certain songs. It may not be as "pure" as a 2204/JCM, but it covers more ground.

I'm always looking for the 2x12 version. I have a 1989 Marshall JCM800 4010 combo, it's bare bones, single channel. I actually was lucky enough to have Zakk Wylde sign mine back in 2007. My only complaint with mine was it came with a Celeston Wolverine speaker, which was a collaboration with Jensen and Celeston from what I found. However, the top end of that speaker will rip your head off lol. Use to give me headaches. So a few years ago I swapped in an Eminence DV-77 Mick Thompson speaker, absolutely amazing in this amp! I always run the volume around 3, so it's loud. I run a Radial JD7 Injector rack unit, it allows me to run the Marshall with my Carvin X-50B with 4x12 cab and a Peavey stereo chorus 2x12 combo and Peavey Bandit, both teal stripe series. 4 amps is loud, but the frequency spread and stereo sound is amazing, absolutely love it, and the Marshall definitely adds so much to the overall tone!

I had the 4211 100W.Actually never needed to use the dirty channel. Pedals into the clean, turned up , sounded great.I had an OD2 , Dimension C and a DD2 delay.Nice to hear it again here.

My first Marshall that I bought new in 86 and eventually added a 2x12 1936 extension cabinet. I loved this amp and regret selling it but I moved up to stacks and regretfully sold it.

Man, sounds great. You ever get your hands on a Studio 15? Would love either of these. Nice demo/review though. The amp sounds wonderful. You get around to demo-ing that Marshall 4x10 yet? Would love to hear it.

I replace it with a celestion vintage 30 which is made in England. You can order this speaker through the Mesa Boogie website

I have one of these. My ex bought it for my birthday back in the 90's. Don't remember exactly what year. Do you know what the exact model number is on these? I have been trying to cross the serial number to see what year it is but my serial number is a different format than any of the cross references talk about . It has the letter "X" and then 5 numbers. I saw where "X" was a letter designating a 1989 model but it's suppose to be in the center of the serial number. It has the plaque on the front that says "JCM 800 50 WATT LEAD". And it has one 12" Celestion G12M-70 speaker. What does yours have? Do you know what model number it is?

Sometimes I get lost trying to figure out how I can acquire a 50 watt JCM 800 combo without diminishing my morals, robbing anyone or performing homosexual activities.😂
