Saw the Blue Angel at the Movies on Exchange St. in Portland, ME back in the 80's! She is mesmerizing, the picture with the policeman's hat is the hottest thing I have ever seen! If you don't love Marlene Dietrich you need to rethink things!

My wife and 3 kids-a girl and 2 boys, all 3 all grown up and doing VERY WELL in life-live south of Portland, OR. Every other weekend, we like to get together and go out for dinner, coffee and dessert, and either a movie at this old theater on Broadway or an opera/play/ballet/symphony the Portland Performing Arts Center in Downtown Portland. We’ve actually seen THIS little classic IN German a few times… ❤️🤍🩶🖤. Ironically, my kids and I are fluent in German; my wife/their [step]mom not so much. (NOTE: I took German in HS. oldest boy and his twin sister are from Ukraine 💛🇺🇦💙, while their “adopted” younger brother is from 🤍 🇵🇱 ❤️. They learned German while living in Germany for a time.)

Of all time? Then you've obviously never seen Hedy Lamar. She WAS, in fact, deemed the most beautiful actress in Hollywood. She also was a scientist, having invented the first communications device that eventually led to cell phones! Beauty AND brains!

@@sulatlalaki it's all in the eye of the beholder. I think we both agree that the female actresses of the classic era will always be the most beautiful because they had class. For me, it will always be Rita Hayworth. Nobody can touch her.

(Cont'd) That period in time was made all the more surreal by the voices and presence of Dietrich, Josephine Baker, Dame Vera Lynn, and Edith Piaf, and Jo Stafford! A powerful musical force. And what is amazing about Dietrich is that her appeal was never lost in whatever language she sang in. She was a dynamic force so much as I have yet to discover why she was once considered in Hollywood as "box office" poison unless we're talking about the WWII fallout for peoples of German heritage (including the British Royals, too. Hence the change to "Windsor-Mountbatten"?)

Marlena Dietrich won the American Medal of Freedom for her support of American soldiers in the fight against Hitler. She also received equally outstanding tributes from Israel, Sweden, Austria and France. Not many people know her influence against Hitler's war. She became an American citizen in protest of Hitler's reign. She was a very warm and special woman.
