I totally agree with your stand, I also do not tune in to all of her podcast episodes and I am selective with every other podcast, youtube video - it's not like the creator has to please everybody. I do not think that it's the downfall of Emma, perhaps a part of her audience is changing, but what is the need to push someone down just because you (the listener) don't agree with her opinions or just random rant, the internet is odd sometimes.

as a 21 year old girl, she had a huge influence on me from 2017-2021. i hope she’s doing ok. you can’t really expect her to be some great philosopher when she reached such massive success at a young age and didn’t need to continue school. if she wants to make aesthetic videos about her traveling or talk about nothing, i think she has the right. get over it

Yeah, the hive mind and redundant repetitive criticism of “she needs school, she’s lost her relatability, she’s not profound. Yadi Yada” is driving it way past home. I do think think it’s just people having sour grapes and simply outgrowing something and getting sassy about it. The whole contrived and parasocial schtick of ‘monetized relatability and authenticity’ is already a corporate dystopian concept. Why are people so ready to follow into this cult of personality and help popularize someone because of this perceived relatability until they reach a point where they simply can’t be relatable anymore? because once they get a stack of money and deals for acting like ‘your cute little gremlin friend struggling through life with you’ the whole illusion breaks down.

The people insinuating they’re more qualified to, I’m sorry.. do what? Host a podcast? Or the people implying they are in some way better than her because they went to college, it’s actually so backwards. Americas obsession with college or university degrees is only toped by south korea I think (highest suicide rate from all first world nations btw.). Spending a fortune on sometimes useless degrees for jobs you def. dont need to go to college for and then having an amount of debt that would make me cry. And dont even get me started about free education nowadays. The internet is amazing and offers more equality in accessibility of education. When everyone has a degree, it loses its value too. Those degrees used to be for the most academicly gifted and now you need one to work a normal office job? Pointless. I have a full time job as designer in an agency and never went to university. It was all about skills and my works when I applied. I am also rooting hard for people learning crafts again. This is dying out and everything gets made in China.

Why do they mention people in college? because most of them do their research about their topics they spent time doing it. For non native English speakers, many language teachers recommended her podcast when learning English as a 2nd/3rd language. Her podcast is easy to digest, her vocab is inclusive and simple to follow. I appreciate how she explains the definition of the topic first. I like the conversational style. Just because her critics find it “unintellectual “ doesn’t mean it isn’t a chill alternative learning resource for others. No one has fact checked her podcast analytics. She’s one of the top podcasts in her category. Its mostly privileged classist middle class girls that look like her pushing the “goto college” comparisons. It’s giving envious, crab in barrel.

When I listen to Emma’s podcast, it’s like listening to a friend talk about a topic that has been on her mind. She talks in a slow pace and sometimes her words doesn’t match her thoughts (I’ve been there too). People need to realise that she is a real person and not just someone on our screens to watch when are bored of real life. She might not have a degree but she is a living creature on earth and has her own thoughts on life and what happens around us. And she wants to share them with us, we can at least be grateful for that. We need to see life without cuts and edits, without filters. + People change, and if you can’t accept that then you need to learn how to because change is a part of life.

Some people say Emma is a pretty girl with pretty privilege - but seeing her in unflattering ways, her with acne and a messy bun and burping on screen makes her look like a very average, regular girl despite her family being better off than most viewers. Seeing a regular girl like yourself make it to fame and success and get invited to all these fashion shows and suddenly get elevated with fancy makeup and clothes - I agree, I think there's an element of jealousy and resentment. Many are probably questioning how is she worth being invited to all these events and hosting the met bc they saw her in her flaws

Speaking as a Milennial who is only vaguely familiar with Emma, this was a very fair analysis. Emma isn't a regular teenager anymore. She's gone from being recorded in her kitchen to be recorded on red carpets. Her life experience is unique. So if she's no longer relatable to you, that's fine. It's disappointing, but it's not the end of the world. Find someone else to listen to. On the other hand, it's clear Emma needs a sounding board or collaborators so she can gain more perspective. That will greatly enhance her podcast alone.

Honestly for me it is more inspirational how she grew her business essentially and a lesson in confidence and do what you want to.

She got famous at 16 and quit school and is a millionaire and the age of 22, OF COURSE she is not gonna be relatable to most people. That doesn’t mean what she has to say is completely stupid and void. If you are lookinh for relatability, big influencers who live in LA and have their own companies in their 20’s and never had to get close to a university are not gonna give you that relatability, honey. Simple as that. Also I dont think she is trying to become a “voice of a generation” with her podcast. People(…especially other women) love to watch women getting burned at a stake, ie, getting “cancelled”. To society, many female influencers are being waited out until they are cancelled. Society is highly critical towards women, in a way that it is not so critical towards men. I genuinely, strongly believe that a guy in Emma’s place would not be so strongly observed. In fact, in this sense, Emma is perfectly self deprecating. In other words, she’s humble, which is a quality lost in Gen Z. And yet, simultaneously, she is being bullied by those who simply see her as competition, in a society where becoming an influencer is so obviously easy. Gen Z’s morals are where narcissism meets herd mentality. I say this as a Gen Z myself. Most of us are hyper focused on watching women get ‘burned at the stake’. As much as we like to believe we are morally better than everyone, we’re not. We’re just awful human beings who get gratification from seeing people get cast out from society

I am a woman and you must live under a stone. Men are torched for the smallest things since many years. Stupid, screeching feminists and woketards are coming for them for the most benine things in the most vile ways. Men have so much expectations put on them that women refuse to notice too. Women are more easily overwhelmed and affected by social pressure and thats why you hear more about their struggle. Men either swallow it or dont care at all. Do you want a list of male youtubers getting criticised for absolute nonsense over the last years? It would be a long read. Mr. Beast gets attacked for helping people and saving lifes....let that sink in.

I didn't know who Emma Chamberlain was before watching this video, but it does strike me that she is someone whose success was based on her personality and intelligence level as a teenaged school drop-out. She was richly rewarded for her traits at that age, and thus never had to do the things the audience had to- she never finished school or got her GED, never went to college and/or got a job. Ultimately, it seems she is being rejected for getting stuck in the rut she was being rewarded for being in, which seems a bit unfair to her on one level. On the other hand, the fact that she has not diversified to achieve growth in other ways lays at least part of the blame at her feet.

As someone who has spent too much time in uni, its definitely not for everyone. I don't think you are necessarily 'smart' if you go to uni/college and it's super rude to insinuate that someone 'should' go. But it is also annoying when people believe that uni just provides you with intellectual knowledge - uni is place to meet different people, make connections, and understand other's opinions. I'm certain you can have these experiences outside of uni, but for some of us, uni is the place where we learned about who we are and met some of our closest friends - so its understandable why people believe uni is for everyone (when its not). In the end, its Emma's choice and saying she needs to college/uni is extremely arrogant.

It’s just life, once people put you on a pedestal they unrealistically expect you to stay frozen in time forgetting that you’re human too. It’s just a basic human bias. i watched emma around 5 years ago till maybe last year, and i've only listened to maybe 2 or 3 episodes of her podcast it was never that serious, imo, everything that she has put out was always personal in a way that it's like she's thinking out loud and on the internet, processing her thoughts as she's filming, personally i've never taken what she said seriously like a source of information ykwim, it's more like an entertainment since it is her own thoughts on camera, like it's kind of hard to explain so i hope it makes sense also, i've felt this since she stopped putting much "effort" in her videos, i.e. forcing the algorithm using thumbnails and loud titles, she's changed professionally to another tier of popularity, yes the met gala, vogue, fashion week, the new house, honestly i think popularity isn't the right word but the brain is not braining atm, example that i think is similar is with nailea devora but i think nai is a bit grounded but still closely in that category of popularity i think the change is for the better, i'm glad that she's grown so much, like it's crazy how much relatability can do, and whatever she's gonna do with people putting out bullshit on her, i hope she's not taking it seriously as i didn't to her shit lol, do what you wanna do girl ong

I feel like I have grown with her content. its lighthearted, genuine and entertaining. shes an artist and makes art (podcasts) based off of what inspires her. shes humble and acknowledges her lack of credentials in discussing some topics but does it nonetheless because its interesting to her. listening to her is like having a convo w a friend. ya, you might not have a degree in relation to the topic your discussing, but that doesn't mean you cant get something out of the convo...

I have been loving her since 2017 and I still love listening to her. It is like hearing a friend talk, so no, I don’t think this is her downfall 🫶 people are just jealous bc they are salty :/

Thank you for not shaming any females in your video. You bring up great points (as a 22 year old) who loves Emma, grew up watching her. I graduated college. We all as of a collective need to stop being so judgmental. Emma lived the same life as us, but got lucky because she is talented and doesn’t know how to relate to her audience as much anymore because she is older, and lived in the fame.

The classism and comparisons aren't cute. It's ok to not feel connected to her, but to drag someone for choices that only affect personal growth doesn't seem to be the real problem people have with her.

Considering the amount of idiots who have a degree I'm cringing a lot hearing these girls acting like they're so much better than Emma because they went to college. Them having this discourse is even an actual proof that they actually kinda suck as people. They suddenly realised that yes Emma isn't a philosopher and that made them feel like they're above her. I used to watch her vlogs, I never caught on her podcasts because indeed it wasn't anything groundbreaking but never once did I thought the reason her podcast lacked depth was because of the lack of a fckng degree. I don't even have a degree myself yet I still know how to think critically like...seriously, they sound incredibly elitist and while doing so they not only shit on Emma but also on the majority of people who didn't go to college. Literally just calling people dumb. It's a sad thing to see.

never expected emma to be a philosopher, just a girl in her 20s going through thoughts most of us are having and it blows my mind ppl hold her to such a high standard. it’s not like she’s spreading misinformation she brings guests on with more qualifications than she has to talk about certain topics which i actually really appreciate especially her cultish ones

All the charges of her to be uneducated are pure classism, there is no other way to call it. Basically all over the western world the cultural field is a prerogative of high class people, it's a locked environment; you can access to it only if you belong to specific social groups. Can she improve? Of course she can but, really, this is not the point: people are not criticize her for her content, they are just hating her with classist insults.

Girl, your opinion on attending college (or others education in general) made me fall in love with you!! All these opinions of others judging Emma/anyone for not going to college pisses me off so much!!! (And I have my BA). Thank you for pushing back on those comments. However, I still love Emma.

zoe, i can’t thank you enough for this video. i have been feeling so sad for her recently because of everyone coming out with these hateful and judgmental comments. she is still so young, she has learned and grown in ways that her former audience members that have been to college haven’t. i agree with every point you mentioned. i love emma chamberlain and i always will. when i watch/listen to her content i feel like she is my friend and she doesn’t portray that celebrity aurora like other influencers do. thank you zoe.

As someone slightly older than her (and a teacher), I wanna say that having skills and other types of intelligence for the long run is very important. She can totally learn without going to higher education, but so far, all the skills she has is making videos. After a while. influencers fall off, so what's the plan B? Maybe she is learning something in the background that she can use after this and good for her! I hope that's true, but then again she's rich. She might not have to do anything else besides influencing. (Although I had no idea who she was before this video)

I started watching her vids when she had a couple hundred followers on KZread. She was just so chaotic and as a fellow high schooler at the time, it just felt like hanging out with a friend. The thing is, she got extremely famous without trying. She didn’t finish HS, she hasn’t gone to college. She’s successful financially but she’s irrelevant now, and has no purpose. It’s hard enough to be an early 20s girl so I can’t imagine having no direction or purpose. Other influencers make brands, work in fashion, make their passion become careers etc. But Emma didn’t even have a niche early on. She just made failed cookies and was like able. I’m absolutely not trying to be hateful. It just seems like she hasn’t really outgrown the cringey high school phase she got famous for… and her viewers have. I open she finds her path.

its very much vice versa, she definitely has outgrown her "cringey high school phase", if you have seen her evolution thats pretty clear. and others probably havent - or might as well be jealous and quick to judge.
