According to Le Bon, group intelligence is defined by the dumbest member, not smart one. So in a social network, the dumbest idea always prevail over smart one. The free speech end result is consensus on the most stupid idea. @@clodieclod What do you mean by botted? Like actual bots posting comments or just "bots" whom I see everywhere (highest concentration I run into is on the road lol) who just read the comments and copy what everybody else is saying as opposed to just posting a genuine comment they came up with while watching the video. I ask because I now think that most of the people on the comments section aren't actually people, but just a mix of AI and other, more crude bots like the reply girls.

Have to agree, never been a fan of mark zuckerberg but realise I've only been fed information about him via an algorithm that tries to get an emotional reaction, or whenever he's in the news for something meta did. It's refreshing to hear him just talk. It's still hard to say where his heart is at and how I feel about his work but his ambition and ideas are interesting.

I find that what some people say about him disappointing. Disappointing in that, it seems to me, that people are doing what seems to be a popular narrative about Mark Zuckerberg. Describing him as unfeeling, like a robot, dehumanizing him, and dehumanizing Lex too. What I see are two people who are thoughtful and with that thoughtfulness they can sometimes make such well considered responses that those responses are outstanding and so liken that precision to a robot rather than acknowledge the thoughtfulness of their responses. I wish the interview was longer and hope they share another conversation. It seemed to me Mark Zuckerberg alluded to his openness or even interest in doing another. Hopefully he is not discouraged from the comments section of this video. I'm sorry if my sentence construction isn't great... I just woke up but wanted to finish off the rest of the video and, unexpectedly, feel the impulse to do this comment -all while feeling a little sleepy lol.

I’ve just recently discovered Lex and his interviews. I find them fascinating so far. It reminds me of Charlie Rose, where there’s no audience or graphic distractions. That pure conversation setting is incredibly enjoyable to absorb every bit of this valuable information. This interview specifically, I have a new found appreciation for Mark and his relentless determination to find the best way forward with Meta. He gets a bad rap from others in social media, after hearing this, I think he’s very under appreciated as a pioneer in this interface. Thank you both Lex and Mark for all this information to consider. 👍🍻🇨🇦

I can almost see that perspective; I think many people are missing the context. This was one of the most human and natural and open interviews I’ve seen Mark give. He IS trying to give an optimal answer because he’s the face of a billion dollar company; That’s a lot of context people throw out. Further he’s a guy who has been PR schooled basically through his entire adult life. What you’re seeing here are natural responses with a few caveats. Are they filtered through a PR lens? Indeed. Very interesting Interview. When facebook started I got involved. I loved the group events. Im part of a huge Vespa and Lambretta Scooter scene here in Ireland. A club could post an event and it gave everyone the oppurtunity on one page to organize meet up along routes, who was attending and tech details. I loved it. As a cranky 50 year old who is and loves been anti social...........actually engaged because it was effortless and I enjoyed it. The main feed was full of my friends and I could see what was going on in their lives. I got involved. Then over time it began to change. Had to go looking for my friends feeds. Ads that I had no interest in. Then difficulty seen the comments and had to click a few times just to see what people were saying. Then it got to the stage where it was just the most prolific and needy posters and commentators that I saw and it became annoying. The constant changes to the format turned me off. I haven't used facebook in years and never will. My point: Mark ruined his own product and knew it but didn't care. He ploughed through his idea of 'bringing us all together' by applying his own warped idea of what people wanted. He was wrong and continued to ruin his product. But.....in investors and financial worlds- facebook was profitable which drove him more. Then the privacy issues kicked in and further ruined it. He is cut off from how people feel and cut off because of clearly doesn't have the capacity to empathise with the rest of us. This is the same person who early in years created a program that rated people by looks. A total disregard for how people would feel about getting judged on looks and appearance. This is the key to this man conscious. All he has are cliched phrases when it comes to 'human' questions and about the 'human' experience. He has no experience with humans and resorts back to just saying words. He can talk about tech issues for hours but when it comes to the human experience- his answers drip with awkwardness. Personally I hope he fails. I still dislike him.
Great interview Lex. I have been to many countries and my opinion is that social media increases anxiety and depression. In being on social media many people become depressed after many years of watching how others live, being poor or well off. I think that it has an affect on the brain after a while and not knowing that this increases these things. Instead of concentrating on their own lives, people worry about “keeping up with the Jones”.
As much criticism Mark gets, kind of refreshing to hear his thoughts on Meta,AI,technology without all the dramatic bullshit.

@@donharris8846 yep. I think it’s the same with anything and everything though, people included. When something results in a negative, we very quickly forget all the positives. I haven’t used Facebook in a few years now but I LOVED it for a good 5 or 6 years in my early 20’s. I made a lot of great friends on there and it was such a great way to keep in touch with people and share media. But now people can only see it as some evil and manipulative tool. But like you said, that isn’t down to the service it’s down to the users who (for no fault of their own often) lack critical thinking skills, or who actively wish to manipulate and deceive. The kinds of people who would use any other form of media to do so, but Facebook is unfortunately perfect for nefarious deeds like that. I mean newspapers have been used for propaganda, deceit, manipulation etc for centuries. But you don’t hear people decrying the evils of the daily newspaper

I'm 19 years old and I've always thought that, as I get older, I don't want to become the grumpy old man that talks about how "the good old days", "kids these days" or how everything used to be better. I made it one of my life goals to keep up with technology. But hearing Mark say that soon, most of our meaningful experiences will supposedly be had in a digital world like the Metaverse, I'm starting to question my original stance. First off, I don't believe a majority of humans will ever have most of their meaningful experiences in a virtual world. At least not until we reach a 'Ready Player One' level of realism and endless possibilities, a space and time that doesn't try to replicate the current world (like the Metavers is doing right now), but surpasses it by removing its limitations (like in the aformentioned movie). In such a case, I wouldn't be too opposed to this societal change. Secondly, and because I don't think this level of realism will be possible until 30-40 years from now, Metaverse and its copies will continue to feel like a massive downgrade from 'real' society and life. It misses inherently human aspects such as senses (touch (and with that, temperature and human contact), smell, taste...), and lowers the of significance of things (virtual actions/events have no repercussions in the physical world and virtual objects aren't physically *real*).
