Yeah I love watching him play when he’s 6 snookers behind only to concede 10 mins later. If there’s one thing snooker needs it’s unnecessarily long frames of pointless safety shots.

@@stevenmcalister826 not to mention his amazing tactical tenacity...when he is on the ropes he puts all the ball colors thigh on the cushions and takes ages to decide what shot to play. Eventually his opponent gets bored to death and gets frustrated. There should be a time limit to play a shot. Selby actually can play attractive snooker but he's afraid to and that's why I will never back him up.

Respect for Mark Selby, he puts out some of the best shots out there. Some I haven't even see Ronnie do. But man, you've got to love this guy! He is soooo good.

not really, if you see carefully in the beginning they clearly say that his dad died when selby was 16, so his dad wasnt even alive to witness him play at pro

His Dad Dave was a great bloke, he used to come to all the junior tournaments along with Bob Halford when we used to represent the New Parks Boys club as kids, it is amazing what he has gone on to achieve, not bad for a kid off Bateman Road, fair play to him, Dave would have been so proud.

My second favourite player on the tour after Ronnie. I admire his amazing safety play and incredible break building. One of the most complete players in history

As a Ronnie fan, I can whole-heartedly say that I really appreciate Selby as a player.

Going from finding him boring to loving him play shows your maturity in snooker understanding.

Owen Hu, I think Ronnie only said that to be modest. He can't come out saying that he believes that he is the best, otherwise he'll just look arrogant to everyone. Every player on the circuit knows that Ronnie is the man to beat. Doesn't need to be said. Just look at the way Luca Brecel was celebrating when he beat Ronnie in the 2017 China Championship. You don't see him do that to any other player.

Mark Selby is already an all time great in snooker, terrific terrific player, and a class act, on and off the table

for four to five years Selby was absolutely dominating the game. a true legend of the sport who has won the same amount of triple crown as Robertson Ding and Trump combined. Hope he can rediscover his best form

Majority of criticism comes from Ronnie fans who can't appreciate sublime snooker unless it's served the way Ronnie dishes it up, shame really there are many fantastic players who don't get the appreciation they deserve

@@wierdalien1 He has not been in good shape the last 2 years. I have a feeling that those were his prime years, and he's right where he left off before he has become number 1 now. I hope that's not the case, but... he's been playing like that for a while now, and obviously doesn't know where he lost it himself. Still great to watch when he's playing good, though. But, a bit painful when he's not.

With exception of 2014, where he had luck too.

Mark Selby may not be the easiest on the eye to watch. But the most intelligent snooker player of all-time. His safety play is absolutely remarkable. If I played against him I would be physically & mentally drained afterwards. & probably feel like I have been in the toughest battle ever.

Mark cue action is off the charts. 👍

What a straight forward perfect all aroun der he is. And nobody can fight himself back into the game like him.

I kinda stopped following snooker after moving out. I didn't want to own a TV and later moved to another country. So after the Williams/Higgins/O'Sullivan years, I didn't see much snooker anymore. But from time to time, of course, I come back to it. It's such a beautiful sport. And I somehow never realized how good Mark Selby is.

He's not the most exciting or enthusiastic player but my God he's phenomenal. Pulls off some of the best snookers in the game, and is an excellent distance potter

Ronnie and Selby. The legendd.

Selby has one of the best temperaments of any snooker player. He is like Stephen Hendry in his prime on steroids. Exceptional positional play and probably the best safety play out of any professional - and yes i am including O'Sullivan in that. His only weakness was his long game. But even that has improved over time. I dont think his time at the top will approach O'Sullivan though. O'Sullivans positional play is the best there ever was. No one has cue ball control quite like Ronnie.
