Speaking of Finan's humour, I really liked the scene in the tavern after Uthred has rejected the throne of Mercia and Uthred's warriors are sitting together talking about whether they have anything left and Finan says: Please don't say "our friendship".

One of the very best series I have ever seen. Love all of the actors, especially Uhthred, I see him in my dreams and I am 93 years old. All of the actors are really exceptional. I wish this series could go on forever. Bless you all!!!

Hope you're doing well and are healthy. Great to see that people from all age groups are enjoying this masterpiece. I myself binged the entire 5 seasons and the movie this week.

Hands down he does a great Irish accent, I'm Irish and I thought he was from Ireland outside of the show.

Finan bonded with Uhtred because of what they endured on the slave ship, and as he said "They were bound" one could see his statement touched Uhtred and when he killed the slaver, Uhtred knew he was a warrior.

Would definitely love more insight on Finan's backstory in season 5. One of my favorite things about the character of Finan is that he is without a doubt a hilarious sarcastic bastard, but equally the "mother hen" of the group. Definitely the kind of friend who will call you a piece of shit to your face...then start World War three if anyone else insults you. Someone who you'd want to sit down and have a chat with, but would certainly NOT want to face in combat. I also look forward to seeing his relationship with Edith progress. In season 4 it's made obvious that they like each other, but they haven't really sat down together and had a conversation about it. I kinda want to see Finan THINK he's all suave and has a handle on things...but then just kinda be awkward and flustered trying to bridge the gap between acquaintances and romantic partners.

There's a lot of "hot" male actors, and Mark Rowley is definitely one. But others seem unattainable. Mark is so genuine and friendly, that you actually think you could have a chance with him. 🥰

Love him just as much as Uhtred

I really hope finan does not die he brings the best out of uhtred mark plays him great

Could Mark Rowley be any more wonderful? He listens to Hard Core History, which is so awesome.

Mark is just the BEST, grant it Arnas is my Man but Finan is Uhtred's rock the one he leans on the most. Thankyou Steve!! for mentioning the scene right after Ragnar rescued his little brother and Finan from the slavers. How Ragnar asked if he was Uhtred's brother and he said yes! they are bonded but they are brothers. It is really cool that he did so much research too because it just adds to it and the books obviously.

Another great interview ! 😊 His personality seems very close to Finan's, who is definitely one of my favourite characters on the show. To be honest, when Beocca got killed, I almost didn't react because my brain couldn't process it. It was when I saw the hug between Finan and Uhtred and the tears on Uhtred's face that it hit me and I started to cry too. Such a powerful scene !! Oh and, totally random thought : he kinda reminds me of Matthew Lewis (aka Neville Longbottom) with that hat on. Not sure why lol

Agreed, I was just thinking the same thing a few days ago during a rewatch of TLK. Clapa is a man of few words, definitely a force to be reckoned with in battle, but you can tell he has the heart of a farmer who enjoys the simpler things in life (like playing "Stones")

One of my favourite characters on the show. Bloody love this guy. Super talented.

Mark does a great Dublin accent ,considering it was a Viking city ,seems fair enough, the Dublin based Vikings under Ingismund ,settled on the Wirral ,and then attacked Chester ,but were routed by forces loyal to Ahelflead , of Mercia , Professor Harding of Nottingham University ( a fellow Tranmere Rovers fan)has written extensively on the Wirral Vikings, Tranmere are the only English football club with a viking name...cheers...E

I don’t mean to be like rude or anything, but one of the things Mark said isn’t technically right. He said the Scandinavians had the best armor. First off we don’t really know what kind of armor they did have, we can only base it off of findings. So depending on who they were/how wealthy they were better armor could’ve been the case. Generally though the Saxons and Scandinavians really had the same armor. Mail armor was only worn by people who could afford it, so Jarls/Chieftains(same for saxons). The common person wore just multiple layers of clothing. Other than that he’s pretty much correct, seems like he did a lot of research.
