Mark reviews D’Addario TNH-3T Titanium Trebles Review | Mark Cohen | Nylon Plucks Titanium

Музыка

Following his earlier string reviews (see links below), classical guitarist Mark Cohen reviews D’Addario’s Titanium Trebles half-set which he paired with his existing D’Addario HT basses. In this review, Mark plays the same Sor Study he played when he reviewed other string brands earlier mentioned below for easy comparison. He seems to be happy with the E string (finally!). Great video! I appreciate your comments, opinions and playing. Would you happen to know what strings came with the Yamaha SLG100N Silent Guitar. I had to replace them and have not been able to find any similar. They sounded and felt great. The treble strings were a milky white color and they had a tiny thin red plastic tip at the end of the string. They also felt more like a steel string than a nylon string. If you have any thoughts on which strings you think they may be I would really appreciate. Thank you!

I just put these on a Godin Multiac which I think benefits from a stiffer string as it by nature seems to be a bit more lax or slinky than my regular acoustics. I guess it has a lot of the geometry of an electric going for it after all. So I always use extra hard tension and this was a noticeable increase in tension-feel. This is good for my playing because I feel more agile and precise with my right hand if the strings put up a bit more of a fight. Before this I found myself moving a bit towards the bridge during harder/faster parts so I could access a tighter string feel. I was also using Hannabach EHT trebels which are actually a bigger gauge at .30 (I don't know of any other brands that hit .30 on the high e). In general I've thought D'addario makes the best nylon string sets. With regard to the Hannachs, I wanted to try that set because it is slightly higher gauge than anyone else, but found them to be just a bit more slinky in feel across the board when compared with D'adarrio EHT sets. So I had some buzzing on the basses and swapped those out with a bass set of D'addarios.

Hi Javier. I would have thought that Titanium strings might be a little too bright on a spruce top. However, Simon Powis, who runs Classical Guitar Corner Academy, uses these strings on his spruce top, and it would be hard to find a better endorsement than that! Let us know what you think if you give them a try..Thanks!

@@markcohen8770 I see... Well i've tried titaniums on cedar tops and loved the sound, yes indeed something in between nylon and carbon, i am now using Sonatina Ultra mexican made strings on my spruce guitar (Daniel García Corona Studio 2020 i guess it's a Torres construction on Englemann Spruce and Paloescrito, made in Paracho Mexico) which i guess are close to Savarez New Cristal or Augustine Regal trebles, and still i am looking for a treble string that offers let's say a balance in timbre... There is a string line also by the Sonatina brand which is made of titanium nylon, i guess i will try them out on that guitar and if i don't like the sound, i could still put the titanium strings on my cedar top guitar. Greetings sir, thank you for your answer!

@@javierdiazsantana The pleasure is all mine, Javier! There's a world of tone that you can explore with Aquila trebles, though I'm still trying to figure out their bass strings (and a waiting on replies from the company). lol, I know that poster is an emblem of a rock band, but it’s still a kind of poster that makes me feel uncomfortable despite the fact I criticize religious people often myself. That poster is just a kind of thing that’s too confrontational.
