Best version of „Water of Love“ in KZread-universe. Magical intro.

It's amazing!!! he turned it into minor tone most of the running time. In fact at some times you dont know if it's minor or major. It has the haunted tone of "Follow me home", plus it sounds JJ Cale more than ever. You go to a concert of MK you go back home happy. You get this version, you come twice as happy...

The chords progression is mixolidyan i guess, so it turns out, that you can use a minor scale here

Wooww simply AMAZING. The bass and keyboards at the begining are perfect and sound delightful to the mind. Then .... Mark with his Les Paul does the rest with his virtuosim play the right and powerful chords this GREAT song and version of it. Thanks for share , all your músic and RARE - D.S. , M. Knopfler músic.

Pedal steel freed him up to take a new emotional approach. The lightness of the pedal steel and his reworked vocal is dramatically contrasted with the power of the Les Paul. Whole different vibe from the original arrangement which was warm and engrossing. Here, a more edgy and reflective take. Love both.

He doesn`t do anything else when playing live. i dont' see where your comment was going, but... listen, i'm a very old fan, since more than 25 years ... and, if you make tour like me after he make a new album, you can see that the concert are all the same, mark DOESN'T LIKE to let the things go everywhere, it's in that way that i was saying that, all set list are all the same during the tour, exept one track... and when he play, it's the same line every time, he play in a game, whith some minus variation... mark is a professional who does'nt like to take risk, every little thing is thinked, even the joke on tours... ( "doctor says not dico dancing" or, the cup of tea with richard... all tour long ...and you know, i'm not the inventor of that fact, every fan know it ;) yes, it's true, he didn't play the same note every single time, thats what you call impro, but i was talking of all the rest ;) mark does'nt like to improvise anything... and you may hangry again'st me, it's not my fault :( !!! but i love you, and you may be right with my ears, come on and talk with us on facebook if you want ? we have a "dire straits" private group here ;) so long !!!

Yup, dIRE sTRAITS and now Mark solo is best live, by far ! he improvises the most wonderful licks, nothing like on the albums....except Alchemy of course.

Totally true!! His improv is evidence of his true Maestro nod!! Tone!!!!!??? Many can shred and scream and burn up the fretboard, but not many can match MK's tone!! Beautiful!! I like the up tempo of this version too. Ever notice how many times he may change rhythms? He seems to really like the Calypso, Reggae , Latin rhythms. Check out Australia BinA tour final performance of So Far Away!!! Just awesome!! @@robvandinteren5436
