    So true. Our sense of sight overpowers our sense of hearing (video killed the radio star?) and songs have become sorts of soundtracks to mini films, which is limiting. Not that long ago, I was watching (see, not really listening to) a KZread music reviewer review a "song." Not far in, I realized he was reviewing the visual content of the video, not the sound. Video has certainly driven lyrics into a small corner these days - why tell when you can show? Well, there is a reason and Mark nailed it.

    The golden age of rock n roll has long gone. There are still creative bands out there in the "jamband" genre. But they are not popular music right now.
