The way society is going with social media, needing constant validation, and people being fake as honestly horrifying to me. I have a friend who is a producer and he straight up told me that some of the people that come in there come in there, and just record tick-tock’s. I’ve also heard another producer say this. People are in there for a social media, not really to create. They just want the attention. It’s getting weird.

@@NickGenovese I built relationships in sync licensing, once I built up my resume, I then built up my own community, branded myself authentically, then diversified my income beyond sync licensing by teaching a production course.

The problem is that no one really know what a actual song or a stream is worth. Back in the day, tapes and cds, etc.. actually was a product that was sold so that validated worth. 🤷🏾‍♂️

And now they shadow barning and buying out the real talent , we need independent society to unite. Real music can be realized once this toxicity is eliminated

SPOT ON My Boi💯 I realized this while in Music Business Management & Engineering College. Major Labels are the banks, the digital distributors are the middle men & the marketing schemes are the phony carnival mirrors! Its severely unstable, deceitful & can rob actual talented musicians of their passion for the art. It's why Rihanna ain't into music no more but business, to clear old advances, label recoupments & free herself up from the industry while she's still young. Michael & Prince knew what they were talking about & were eliminated for going against the Oligarchs!

yo game do you remember "Chart Hyping" ? this is the modern version of it. Back in the day, labels would put out physical copies of the music {Vinyls & CD} and send their own staff to go round and purchase all the remaining copies from all the record stores to make it seem like their artists had sold more than they actually did. Just to create the illusion of success.

FREE GAME!!! I been watching your tutorials since I was in high school learned a ton and have been in a lot of bs with being a producer unfortunately. I’d like to come on and speak about the bs going on in the industry!

I love it when a teacher happily laments there's so much to teach us. Well teach me! The business side of the industry and my knowledge of it is baseless except for historical accounts and the unbelieveable stories I'm told about the epic and vast preversion and unbridled greed permeats the roots and foundations of the institution. I studied music theory in high school and vocal performance/theory in college. I tought piano and theory when i was in my 20's; i've performed in many amazing situations and Ive been composing since i was 6. Now I want to do something different; something that doesnt include 'selling my soul' to a den of thieves in order for me to get off of the current plateau. Full disclosue: i'm bored and cranky now that i'm older; the soul selling thing may be a fitting option during these dark times. At least it's something I haven't done yet.
