The description says "then President Trump", as in Trump was the president at the time that they are talking about. Plus, I'm pretty sure it's pretty standard to refer to a former president as President, such as President Obama and President Bush and President Clinton, similar to how former generals and other high ranking members of the military are usually still referred to by their rank even after they retire and are no longer in the military, maybe with "retired" before hand while introducing them to make it clear they are no longer active military.

And even though I find the Dems to currently be useless, what year are we in and what is the current political climate. You can't approach this from a "well where were we when the constitution was written" purview, it's two thousand twenty two. One party today is basically useless, and the other party is regressive. Dems talk about helping people and do nothing, sometimes do bad like I think this "ministry of truth" will probably do even though I get the sentiment.
