I think some of the stories may have been embellished but Clough was so unique a character that the stories remain credible. He was keen to ensure no one got above themselves and despite being the country's then record signing Trevor Francis had to make the tea just like everyone else.

@@geoffpoole483 In general I would usually agree, but with Clough(a real unique controversial, motivating Genius and Loon!)I tend to think this is how it played out! ..It was the same with Bill Shankly who I always make an effort to watch any vids of him in!..He had this larger than life personality &was massive on mind games& Psychology..And he had the utmost respect for the fans!..U can still see why today he and Brian Clough are still spoken about with such reverence!

@@maxwellboyne2770 Crossley has told this story differently before. It gets slightly more embellished upon every time its told. This happens with almost every great/funny story that is ever told though whether it's Crossley or a mate down the pub, especially the further in the past the actual event happened. The fraud part though needs to be put into context. I don't think it has anything to do with Clough being a socialist and far more to do with the idea that the advertisement could be seen that it would be Stuart Pearce himself showing up to the jobs that would of course be ridiculous given his level of fame at the time. It's more to do with the insinuation that Pearce had any involvement in the company anymore other than it being still within his family. Not strictly him having any part in it other than his brother using his name.
