Brian Clough was a legend, but what a character Mark Crossley is. He was a great goalkeeper, and as a die hard Forest fan I think he was the second best keeper we ever had after Peter Shilton. He made some bloopers but oh my word, did he pull off some absolute world-class saves against some phenomenal opposition.

Liverpool fan and I idolise cloughie. The man along with Peter Taylor were pure magic and the respect and success they achieved you have to acknowledge never mind who you support. Sadly we’ll never see the likes again as football now is all dirty money, corrupt owners and managers who squander billions and they are not fit to lace cloughis boots. After Brian had visited his brother a couple if times, the next time he visited he marched the team up the ward, as my mates friend was a Forrest fan. I love to hear these stories. I have no affiliations with any club that Sir Brian managed but what an absolute genius and legend this man is. All this from a time where supporters could actually relate to footballers. Tales of this nature are now a thing of the past. Those were wonderful stories. I only have to hear "Now then young man" and I'm in stitches already. Growing up in Ireland I was a Man Utd fan since I was 6 years old in 1968 because of George Best and my friends were all fans of Arsenal, West Ham, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea but the Forest team of the late 70s became everybody's second favourite team. I still hope for the days when they will be challenging for the Premier League title again. Winning two European Cups, what an achievement. Cloughie was a once-off, for sure. Imagine calling a 19-year-old player "Shithouse" today, and the £50 fine! Sports psychologists wouldn't know where to start with that one!

Absolutely love these Cloughie stories and Crossley is brilliant at telling them , was fortunate enough to have the great man see me play in a friendly for King's Lynn against Forest back in 89 and just knowing he was sat in the stands was spine tingling for me as a Forest fan. John Sheridan played in that game , don't think he made another appearance for us. Forest won 5-0 , Lee Chapman hat-trick. Was something to do with Steve Sutton's testimonial year i think.

Great interview, telling it as it is, non of this bloody pc crap. Quite appropriate, one of my best mates played under Cloughie at Derby, so I’ve had a few insights & amusing anecdotes. What Ricky did say is that Taylor was the real football brains behind their success but Cloughie cud man manage. But, boy, was he a character. unforgettable and not a nasty man, from the stories I’ve been told he enjoyed the banter and he had to be his way. Pity there aren’t more individuals like him this is the age of zero Charisma, he definitely had it. I loved the story of Wee Archie running the line, i came close to playing alongside him when he was at St Mirren, I played for a provincial club & they were approached by a scout for St Mirren to see if they wud release me for trials with them but the club wouldn’t agree. That’s another side of football I’m afraid. The club was approached by scouts from other senior clubs in Scotland & also Woolwich Arsenal & Millwall. But we’re intent on keeping a hold of me. I was a goalkeeper. Loved the Goalkeeping, still do.

Brian Clough said something like he was "the shop window" and Peter Taylor was "the goods in the back". These days managers/head coaches have media training hence the lack of memorable quotes from press conferences. He did make some errors in signing players, notably Justin Fashanu but so does every manager.
